Photography Trick

I thought I would share this as its a very cool idea to reduce camera shake.

Very cool.

Very cool.

I feel dumber for not thinking of that.

Could have really used that when I was taking the river shots today since I wasn’t dressed for the weather and had a bit of hand shiver I was fighting with.

Huge !

that is awesome

thats pretty nifty

This is awesome but NSFW due to side banners and such!

i’ll be making one of those tomorrow.

 good find.

no shit…wow.
Good find

nice. I’m going to give that a try.

that is brilliant

i might have to try that for video cameras

what is it? no flash here

it’s basically just a string with a weight on the end that you step on and pull up on, so instead of the camera being held in compression like on a tripod, it is held in tension by the string. The other end is tied to a bolt (1/4-20 UNC) that threads into the tripod hole.

WTF is up w/ that dudes shoes?

That is wicked… off to the hardware store!

Anyone try this yet? I’m thinking the ultimate “string” would be wire cable (thin, but not so thin it’ll cut you). The less stretch, the better this should work.

Except that wire cable doesn’t like to be wrapped tightly and stuck in your pocket. There are lots of no stretch strings you could use. I’m going to try it with some of the firewire fishing line I have. 12lb test is really tiny, strong enough that you won’t break it, and has pretty much 0 stretch. Bailing twine would probably work real well too.

thats a great idea, pretty cool
