wtf man
pretty cool and a good landing it was
He fuct up his rims.
Ok fine I’ll say it.
“Woah thats some nasty curb rash!”
^^^ I didn’t want to say it.^^^
They should use a bead lock…
Overengineering created the problem in the first place. The landing gear rotates 90* for a stowed position. Sure it is there for better packaging, but why isn’t there a simple mechanical system in place in case of failure.
Consider this, can you still drive your car if you blow you power steering pump or have low fluid level?
And anybody thinks that the wheels or runway are designed to take that abuse is an idiot. It is pure luck that it worked out that way.
The shock assembly on the other hand held up, but who has the figures on if it was creating a greater stopping force than a tire at threshold? I would speculate the tire does.
^^^the problem of stopping distance wasnt so much about the front tire adding or subtracting stopping distance in and of itself
the problem became lack of steering control, the pilot was unable to use the reverse thrusters (forget the proper name) because w/o a front tire helding the plane strair, reverse thrusters might have sent the plane off the side of the runway
instead, the pilots had to simply throttle down the engines and use the brakes on the main gear to do ALL the stopping, but just like a top fuel dragster needs the chute, teh plane needs the reverse thrusters
brakes just burn out at 175 mph , which is why the plane used the entire runway
i think they should roll jet blues with 24"s…
