PICS: SENDAI Hi-Lands PRA drag event (56K WARNING)

This past Sunday I headed to Sendai hi-lands drag strip for the final PRA (Professional Racers Association) drag event of 2005. This league is not to be confused with JDDA (Japan Domestic Drag Association).

I left my Yokohama residence at roughly 5:15 AM and took the local train to Tokyo station where I boarded the Shinkansen express train bound for Sendai. Once I arrived at Sendai I met up with one of our affiliated American muscle pro-shops. This pro-shop have been campaigning a 1966 El-Camino for several years in the PRA street eliminator class with great success. (vehicle pictured below).

This event showcased some of the finest American built muscle cars Japan has to offer. Overall there was a moderate turn out with cars in attendance due to the weary November forecast.

Beyond my expectations, it was a very eventful day. It was a real charm to see this type of muscle spread all over Japan. I ve included several images below for everyones viewing.

Wow, great pictures! It’s very cool to see there’s a muscle scene in Japan. I never expected this…

What kind of car is this:

old school porsche spyder, i for get the number
james dean car

I like that 59 vette, my uncle has one like it but original.

It looks like it has modern susp under it. That would be a nice cruiser in the mountains!!

I winder what they think of driving on the “wrong” side of the car.

I also wonder how the importing regulations differ there from here.

Pics of JDM vs. USDM muscle?

And it’s a Porsche 550 Spyder.

Anything can come to Japan, but there is an 8% tax. This American pro-shop I deal with imports all they’re stock from So-Cal, thus everything is just spotless except the drag machine.

Ill have to wait until next year for that. I actually was told there was gonna be some Skyline’s and Supra’a at this event, they didnt show.

WOW I never thought I would ever see American Muscle cars in Japan! That’s awesome!

Seeing japanese guys sitting in an American car doing a burnout looks
really funny to me for some reason…
