This past Sunday I headed to Sendai hi-lands drag strip for the final PRA (Professional Racers Association) drag event of 2005. This league is not to be confused with JDDA (Japan Domestic Drag Association).
I left my Yokohama residence at roughly 5:15 AM and took the local train to Tokyo station where I boarded the Shinkansen express train bound for Sendai. Once I arrived at Sendai I met up with one of our affiliated American muscle pro-shops. This pro-shop have been campaigning a 1966 El-Camino for several years in the PRA street eliminator class with great success. (vehicle pictured below).
This event showcased some of the finest American built muscle cars Japan has to offer. Overall there was a moderate turn out with cars in attendance due to the weary November forecast.
Beyond my expectations, it was a very eventful day. It was a real charm to see this type of muscle spread all over Japan. I ve included several images below for everyones viewing.
The 260KM/h Shinkansen
My friends 454 powered 66 el-camino, which had a best run of 11.33 in the 1/4
A very quick nitrous assisted Z-28 Camaro that’s running in the low 10’s.
