Hey just to let you guys know I recived a message from my dad at GM warning my of a Virus that has just been found.
DO NOT open any emails where the message is “A Card For You” or a similar spelling of that. What happens is you open the message and it causes you to freez, once you either hit alt+ctrl+delete, reset or even the power when you computer starts up next it delets Sector Zero from your hard drive. This means your hard drive is dead, not just erased its no longer able to be used again in any way. Just wanted to give heads up about this.
This hoax never seems to die. Simply opening an e-mail without downloading and running a file won’t delete your hard-drive. Don’t believe me? look here:
ok listen up, the email itsself does not do the function. Inside the email there is a “e-card” style thing you must open and it installs a program that does run and do what said before. This is not a hoax or some bs thing, the tech support team at GM sent this email out to all staff members of GM, if you dont like ppl helping out shut it.
i fell for this, i didnt know what happened, i had to put the hard drive in my friends computer and scandisk fixed the file table, but i had to go through a pain in the ass process of backing up data onto dvds and than reinstalling windows and all that shit
