Please read virus announcement!

Hey just to let you guys know I recived a message from my dad at GM warning my of a Virus that has just been found.

DO NOT open any emails where the message is “A Card For You” or a similar spelling of that. What happens is you open the message and it causes you to freez, once you either hit alt+ctrl+delete, reset or even the power when you computer starts up next it delets Sector Zero from your hard drive. This means your hard drive is dead, not just erased its no longer able to be used again in any way. Just wanted to give heads up about this.

new virus eh, now i must be aware of my emails.
thanks jason

Ive never heard of a virus that permanently wrecks your harddrive… I could be wrong though.

it happened to my friends harddrive once, 2years ago. it was fried, did not pick up a signal when you turn on the power.
you just have to be cautious.

theres a virus like this cycling since xmas… it destroys ur harddrive wen u restart ur computer…so only way is to back it up as a slave i think…

This hoax never seems to die. Simply opening an e-mail without downloading and running a file won’t delete your hard-drive. Don’t believe me? look here:

Yeah, this is bullshit. You can’t wreck a hard drive with software. You can corrupt it, but you can’t damage it physically.

oh noes, teh hax!

A Card For You :noes:

fag

lol i was gonna say, how can software kill your harddrive, and how can you get any software on your computer by opening an email…?

:pat:

ok listen up, the email itsself does not do the function. Inside the email there is a “e-card” style thing you must open and it installs a program that does run and do what said before. This is not a hoax or some bs thing, the tech support team at GM sent this email out to all staff members of GM, if you dont like ppl helping out shut it.

The HR lady at my work forwarded an e-mail from her husband to our IS dept.

Because we’re cocky and think we’re bulletprof, we just ignored the e-mail :o

i fell for this, i didnt know what happened, i had to put the hard drive in my friends computer and scandisk fixed the file table, but i had to go through a pain in the ass process of backing up data onto dvds and than reinstalling windows and all that shit

I had a virus that came over, smashed my Hard drive, pirated software, and then fucked my sister.

Weird thing is, i don’t even have a sister.
