Pontiac = DEAD!!!

Drive one now so you don’t get your hopes up.

I was actually wanting to buy a G8 as soon as they were available in manual. I really hope it becomes available still.

Were they planning on a 5-speed one ever? I thought it was just the gxp

I was under the impressions that the 2010 was to be available in 6-sp.

I see a million G6s on the road. I also own one and am very happy with it.

That would be awesome lets hope chevy keeps it going and adds the manual trans. I saw a red one every day last semester at school I feel in love with it and was planning on one as a daily after my beater died. The car seems the best of all worlds, lsx based siqqqness motor, rearwheel drive for burnouts , the nice interior out of the gto, pretty decent looks nice hood scoops, wheels, and dual exhaust. does anyone know if pontiac will be tacking on any more rebates because of this?

It’s amazing how simple yet true this statement is.

I am not sure but am very interested as well. I have a very fun daily right now and I do love it(M5) however if for the same $$$ I can have a daily that is brand new I would for sure.

Latest word is that, that will NOT the case. Solstice and G8 will die with the rest of the Pontiac line up.

Apparently GM does not need an excitement division, the need a green division. :banghead:

Solstice and Sky were scheduled to be dropped before the car market even got near the low that it is at now, and before GM totally went under. A shame, I’m all for Miata having all the spotlight of the roadster market, but there’s something to be said for competition. And the Sky looks freaking hot.

Isn’t that the best option though? when you eliminate the compeition. Whats it matter if you sell 10K Grand Prixs and 10k Impalas, all togeether you sold 20K W-body’s. Lets say they compete with XXXX import. Well kill the Grand Prix and now you can only choose Impala or XXXX import. Hurting your odds a little.

I don’t know, all this downsizing really fucks the industry over when people start buying cars again.

No Pontiacs will be rebadged as Chevrolets, he said. The new G8 sports sedan will be dropped as will the Solstice sports car. Henderson said the Pontiac Vibe could be built into 2010, pending negotiations with manufacturing partner Toyota Motor Corp., which assembles the Toyota Corolla at a joint venture plant in California.

well considering its a park avenue in another part of the world and a caprice…we wont see it rebaged just “available here”…I know splitting hairs but to find loopholes, that would be it

Otherwise basically all they have is the Camaro, Corvette and Cadillacs for car guru’s now.

Maybe this will make room for the Supercharged Z28

Than again thats still more choices than most other brands.

as much as I hate to say it this is a good move because it is part of a franchise consolidation that will make GM viable and profitable. right now that is most important.

besides the next generation of Impala is supposed to be RWD so we may not have seen the end of the G8 GT/Impala SS… most of the other Pontiacs are not that important other than the Vibe. That is the only one they need to rebadge because there are no other GM cars like it.

^^ That may be on hold if Obama lets California dictate CAFE rules. It’s impressive that the Camaro can get 29 MPG highway in the V6 form, so maybe they can pull that off with any Zeta following it.

In any case, it might make sense to see the G8 become the Park Avenue - the Impala would require higher volumes to be profitable, and they’d probably have to make it in North America (same plant as the Camaro, perhaps). Otherwise, the smaller volumes from Australia would make perfect sense for a lower-volume Buick.

And who knows, maybe the GXP could become the next Grand National/GNX…

I hope somebody resurrects the Pontiac tri-spoke wheels! Those were worth keeping around!

No more dance parties.

Didn’t that gay guy in the first Survivor get one of these? I wonder what happened to it.
