Power Stroke Help

12-14mpg on a lifted 7.3 isn’t really that far off from normal. Actually sounds about right to me.

esp wigth a shit alighment and 315 tires

Just shoot me a text when you want to look at that. I tried to find the old thread on doing the P-pump conversion but didn’t have any luck.

^this the old power chokes get shit fuel economy no matter what. If you want good MPGs get an old B series cummer.

def will! i need the fuel leak looked into, i think i know kinda what it is and i gotta take care of the killer dowel of death? idk if its ever been done but since i read about it i havent driven the truck ill shoot you a text later today

I’d say the MPG is about right, but it can be higher. I’ve seen them as low as 8 on the older 7.3s. As far as the oil leak, they seem to go through oil pans and rear mains on occasion. Also, make sure you have good pressure from the lift pump and through the HPOP.

The good ol KDP. Some have problems with it and some don’t… but I wouldn’t take the chance either! It’s not a bad job, but I hear it’s worth it… you know, with the chewed up engine and all.

I’m running a triple-dog tuner on my Cummins and get best fuel mileage on Extreme, prolly stated before that bullydog is ancient i was waiting for Efi live to come out for my 04.5 but likley wont happen so Smarty it is for myself.

yea the 130$ in parts for the kdp is worth it even if there is no problems i want this truck to outlast me haha

THIS THREAD IS NOW ABOUT CUMMINS!!!

rather be cummin then strokin  haha jk

Id much rather have a Cummins than a powerjoke

your mileage is definitely off. i was getting 14mpg towing in my 99 7.3 zf6 dually truck. got about 16-18 unloaded depending.

it shouldn’t be smoking under WOT unless you’re under the turbo. How many miles are on this? What’s your air filter look like? I’m sure I can fix it, the question is do you want to pay me.

Yes under boost and 160k and air filter is airaid or whatever. Probably needs cleaned/replaced.

what i meant is that typically those 7.3s won’t roll coal if the turbo is spooled up (IE - in boost) so if you’re smoking anything more than a very slight haze under boost there is an issue. what i meant by “under the turbo” was low rpm before the turbo can spool, if i remember correctly mine didn’t really spool till 1600ish rpm. Then it’d smoke. What are you making for boost? Did you keep the factory airflow restriction guage in the intake?

Let me clarify. When ecu is stock it blows no smoke. Roughly 26 psi and no gauge.

He can’t adjust the Speedo because it prompts for a password when you get to those options. Tuner is locked to his VIN

He doesn’t blow coal once the turbo has spooled, its only off the line or the time it takes to spool.

Well I would still suggest you start by getting the speedo calibrated correctly and go from there. A small amount of soot is normal if you flat mat it before the turbo fully spools and the larger tires are going to make it a little bit lazier down low. Honestly if you were expecting to get 20 mpg with this your barking up the wrong tree, sell it and buy an old ass dodge.

Any idea why it is prompting for a password?

Did he buy the tuner new or used? I have a base model edge evolution in my truck, but I purchased it new and have never used it on anything else. I would image if it is asking for a password it’s been used before and has to be unlocked.
