My new car leaks and requires a top up every week or so. Anyone ever done rack end seals or could shed some light onto my options here. Its leaking from one side at the very end…i can tell because the boots torn on that side lol. Thanks in advance
for what its worth , a new rack is not very expensive and will be far better than replacing seals , plus it will come with new inner tierods and boots
farmer
Ditto fuck rebuilding it. Get a new rack, plus you get like a $50 core charge for your shit rack.
thats where i went came in a week and he gave me about 90 for the core when i sent it back, its in the states so if u can afford the wait giv’r.
unless theres a local cat around to do it
Thanks for the info im going to talk to a buddy at part source and see what this new rack is going to run me. Thanks again! amazing quick responces
If possible, try to find a HICAS rack, they have a quicker steering ratio.
I had one shipped in from Montreal BNIB for $290, just waiting on some aftermarket steering components to finish it off nice to make it worthwhile replacing. I always say you have to make it better than it was if you break/replace something.
And, are twice the price
With Devo’s ballerness, that shouldn’t be too much of a concern. The aftermarket racks cost even more…lol
Thanks for the help guys, i just went with a replacement rack for the vert.
If the one on the red car goes ill give the hicas rear rack a go…shes the one that may be forming into the track car.
what aftermarket rack’s are there for s13’s? that retain power steering
assuming you mean the HICAS rack and not the front rack on a HICAS car.
I could use my old hicas rack off my old subframe right?
how much would someone pay for a used HICAS rack?
is the increased steering ratio THAT much better that it is work changing?
No I mean the front steering rack on a HICAS car has a quicker ratio. Well, if it’s worth it to you, then you can change it. I don’t think changing a steering rack is too much work, judging from the accessibility and number of bolts holding it in. The groupbuy that’s going on for the aftermarket rack for like $1000 has a similar ratio to the HICAS front rack.
Changing ps racks is a bitch. The high pressure lines are retarded to thread into the new rack.
