They are called margin notes and relate to the text. The correspond to numbers in the text body.

that was a joke… I started the site for him, made up a quick shell (header was my idea 
) then let him run with it
that’s because page 19 is actually the same as page 11 (since when creating them, i just SAVE AS, so when you get to 19 (there is no link to it in the index, but you can get to it by going NEXT) the text is the same as page 11…
