price drop on azenis

I’ve found there has been a significant price drop on the new Falken Azenis RT-615’s. anyone here get a good deal on tires? i need a new set.

Who loves ya baby!

call me up chris

roger that

RT-215’s are cheaper and a better tire.

how much???..i found some for 85 a piece

explain please.

in grassroots they tested the 2. the new tire didnt get slick/too hot as quickly, and they were getting faster times with it. was there another/better test somewhere else?

Michael Occhipinti, but what does he know…

I can’t open up that artcile right now, so I’ll have to read it later.

the name means nothing to me. i have no idea who he is.

but post the artical, i would like to read it.

the only reason i want the 615 is becuase they are comming out with the size i want in march

Fastest STS driver in the state yo… Seriously though his times with Azenis are the same as Dale’s with R-comps, in a f—ing neon. He always places 1st in PAX and omg his is sooooooooo cute.

oh, that guy

you cant tell me names… you have to tell me what he/she drives
lol

“On track, the RT-615 did not disappoint:
It earned the quickest times for both drivers, both in mean and fastest clean runs”

“The new Falken had about half the pressure
and temperature gain exhibited by the older version. This did yield about one more run before the tire needed to be cooled in order to maintain performance.”

so with these he could be .5 sec faster. as per that artical.

I was under the impression they werent making the RT-215 glad to hear they arent though, that was a hella cheap/ good tire compare to the damn potenzas that came with my car.

Edit: Just skimmed through the article and it looks like it is a replacement for the 215. Lame!!

i dont think they are…i think there are still jsut a ton floating around

No, as per driver Chris Harvey. The tire advantage for Per Schoeder was only .056 seconds faster.

Michael has tried 615s and didn’t like them on the front, he has them on the rear.

Also they pointed out that the RT-215s gained more heat, and increased pressure more. Heat is caused by friction, friction = grip. To much heat = too much pressure = less grip. I am wondering if they had the same initial pressures for both the RT-615s and RT-215s. Starting with a lower initial pressure may or may not have helped.

Another thing to point out in that article is that both drivers were slow on MXs. .067 for Per and .978 for Chris. The MX’s ranked 5th for the street tires tested. The top two positions in STS for 2005 were on MX’s.

In any case the performance nitpicking is nominal (especially for regional drivers) compared to the price difference. In which case the RT-215s come out on top.

i just noticed that.

reguardless of the minute difference between the RT-215 and RT-615 in the dry…the RT-615 is a better tire when the conditions are wet. which is the reason for me going with the newer tire.

The other main difference is weight. The 615 is 5 lbs lighter per tire than the 215 in a 225/45R17 size.

Still havent said how much u found them for

Where is your source for that? The GRM link states the weight difference in the tire size (225/45R17) they tested is HALF a pound. The RT-215s weighed 25 pounds, the RT-615s weighed 24.5 pounds.

25 - 24.5 = 0.5
