My rollcage 101.

The cage was built by a shop that is now closed down in spring of 2008. It is made of seamless DOM piping, initial idea was to have 1.500 x 0.095 but I believe we went one step up in either thickness or diameter as I had plans of racing it in another series that required greater specifications. It was built to meet DMCC which was essential Formula Drift rule book since FD judge Andy Yen runs DMCC ever since 2008.

What I was looking for in a cage was:

  • Side hoops (A-pillar hoops) as close to the A pillar as possible to reduce visibility interference normally created by rollcages.
  • Main hoop as close to the B pillars and roof as possible to minimize crumple if a rollover was to occur.
  • Roof bar (diagonal going over the drive/passenger area)
  • Windshield diagonals, Sidehoop diagonals.
  • 1/4inch contact plates on at least two surfaces at each contact plate as well as wrap around 1/4inch plate on strut towers
  • Each mounting plate shall not be greater than 100 square inches and shall be no greater than twelve (12) inches or less than two (2) inches on a side
  • Front hoop leg welded to contact plates at two axis
  • Inside-dash bar
  • Steering column is bolted to a support plate on the dash bar
  • 1/4inch plate welded loopholes for the lower harness straps
  • transmission tunnel bar welded to the transmission tunnel (see fire extinguisher pic)
  • floor bars connecting main hoop and front hoop at the bottom
  • 1/4 triangulation plates at the X configured door bars

Chassis has: front cross member, tc rod brackets, rear subframe with LCA’s and rear knuckles, gas tank with a walbro 255 in it, wiring harness, sr cluster, dash, wiring harness will work with JDM s13 sr20det engine harness, you don’t need to rewire jdm engine harness to canadian chassis, plug and play (ecu on the left), pedals, throttle cable, brake booster, all fuseboxes, rear rebar with towhook, custom 1 piece chromoly front strut tower bar.

If you want, I will include stock front and rear swaybars, a pair of axles, full stock multilink, 4lug, and a pair of axles, driveshaft with it, this is the stuff I took off originally when I was building the car.

The windshield is not cracked, and there is no hatch.

To race this chassis you will need: Motor/tranny/engine wiring harness, coilovers, seat, steering rack. You can run the stock multilink/diff/tie rods I can provide or you can get aftermarket your choice. The rear brake lines are good until the T where they split to left and right wheels, you will need to change the two short pieces that go to driver/passenger rear wheels as I cut the ends off them.

I would grab a fresh chassis harness from someone parting out, but current one still works. Chassis was smashed in the front a while ago, but fixed and I still ripped it for many track days after that, it aligns with no problems.

I also have an exhaust for sale, HKS vband with springloaded muffler and 3.5 inch inner diameter, banged up but sick as fuck, 400$
