Product Review: Green Light Trigger

I went up to Freewheeling Cycle today for some spark plugs for the bike, while cashing out I noticed this little thing on the shelf, after talking to a few guys that had used it, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it.

I got it for $15, it’s a rare earth magnet (pretty freaking strong actually, not just some normal magnet) that interferes with the RF field that most of us bikers know all too well.

Basically instead of waiting and waiting…and waiting…for the green light to change, this magnet simulates a larger vehicle (like a car) and allows us to get the green light instead of doing the old “welp, here we go through red light!” act.

I put it on the lower bottom fairing of my bike, the magnet itself is 1.5" x 1" so it’s relatively small. I tested it out at a few known intersections that I always get screwed at, and to my surprise it actually works freaking well! Just like when in a car, you pass over the sensor strips at the intersection and BAM, the light changes within seconds.

I’d rate this a 10/10, it’s definitely worth spending a few bucks on IMO.

I look at this thing behind my counter everyday and never knew if it actually worked or not. ha  good to know, I got no place to hide one

Yeah I heard they work good.

You know what else works most of the time is put your kickstand down (has to be steel some are alum.) Some dude from WNYsportriders told me about that years ago and I was impresses with it.

^I’d prolly leave my bike in 1 and stall it out all the time if I were to do that, LOL

I never got around to getting one of these magnets. This year i will.
The kickstand method works sometimes, I usually just try and aim for the tar strips where the sensor things are and plant the kickstand right on it. That’s good for about 75% success rate haha.
