ya so this sentence pretty much sums up the article

Is this going to kill a lot of those smaller games that go cross platform to up their numbers…
smaller titles otherwise known as not so popular titles will have a hard time breaking even @ 500,000 units let alone a profit. Non-mainstream titles will flop horrible if this is the case.
Although, Killzone 2 has a budget of more than $21 million.
It should also be pointed out that the movie industry routinely makes movies that go far in excess of their budget and never see the kind of money at the box office to make up the difference i.e. Waterworld.
Yet we keep getting movies…even in the days of mass piracy.
Oh and I believe is was 2004 that the gaming industry actually made more money than the film industry.
