1997 Subaru Legacy outback 2.5 liter Automatic (blow body)
Could i swap the 2.5l+ECU and all from the 1997 Subaru to the 1999 Subaru Legacy’s body and transmission?

no. legally you could do it the other way around. why not simply swap the motor from the 97 into the 99 using the 99 harness? not much if anything was changed besides the 5 speed correct?
Just swap the motor and be done with it.
I looked this up at one point and I think I found that there are differences in ECU’s between 96 and 97, but 97-98-99 are all the same… that’s off the top of my head though.
There are some other minor differences. I just put a 98 engine into a 97 car, and I used the 97 intake manifold because of some wiring / vacuum hose changes between the two.
Okay, I’ll use the block and thats it. Perfect… easy 4 grand made after said and done haha.
