The Roots
“The Seed” http://youtube.com/watch?v=lqi5P4gAvSY

I will also add more

I’m not a rap fan so I dont know about the first few.
The Coral one is pretty catchy, ill add that to my playlist I think i’ll like it the more I hear it.

The roots one I wanna say Ive heard before, I like it quite a bit. I definitely like the style.

I don’t like that much rap either, just songs I consider good. Especially those annoying songs on the radio that get played 3490834 times a day. Forces me to listen to Q103 haha

Dont get me wrong, theyre good songs. Some of the better from the “Rap” Genre. Just not my style.

I havnt found all these yet but here are my reviews, Weezer, I knew all of them but the “I just threw out the love of my dreams” one, it was decent. The Dave Brubeck one is definitely a good one, i’ll be adding that to my collection. Killer drum solo too very buddy rich-ish.

If you like that you need to check out Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdj970vqyOU its a similar jazz style but real funky

I’ll check out the rest and continue my reviews

Some good alice in chains, or mad season. and thats rare enuogh now adays, i bet most of you dont even know who mad season is w/o looking. let alone anything outside of rap/hiphop

I have some of Mad Season’s stuff. I dont think they’re that great.

I have every single music video that Alice in Chains did along with their entire MTV Unplugged performance. Great band, theyre still good with the replacement for Stanley.

Some more:

For your softer side
Elliot Smith, often considered the original Emo due to his constant depression. Hit it big when he was asked to do the music for Good Will Hunting, then shot himself.
“Between The Bars” http://youtube.com/watch?v=MVpJVZO4ZLA
“Miss Misery” http://youtube.com/watch?v=zH8-lQ9CeyI

System of a Down
“Soil” This song is a bit of a gem. Most of it isnt that good, then it hits the best Guitar/Bass/Drum instrumental Evar! http://youtube.com/watch?v=fxa0BneKsF4 <- Fast forward to 2:10 and CRANK IT

Eric Johnson a true musician
Cliffs of Dover this song is slightly more well known but still amazing http://youtube.com/watch?v=55nAwmVLQSk

Everlast and Santana
“put your lights on” This song was amazing, but was overshadowed by the Matchbox 20 and santana song smooth http://youtube.com/watch?v=q5a0OAtzrXE

Van Halen
“Eruption” another amazing piece of guitar

Everclear
“Drunk Again” another good drinking song.

godsmack
“good times,bad times”

Thats not rare at all :tong Cant beat the Zep version anyway. Which btw, everything Zep has ever done is amazing, find a song you dont have by them.

In case you haven’t figured it out, I live for this thread. ;D

Morphine
“All Wrong” http://www.last.fm/music/Morphine/_/All+Wrong

Barenaked Ladies
“Get in Line” Only available on the King of the Hill soundtrack or best hits CDs http://youtube.com/watch?v=xaz8L9R-fvQ

Here’s another one… We should change the thread title to Rare/Obscure… ;D

The Brothers Johnson

Was in Jackie Brown when Chris Tucker’s character (Beaumont) get’s whacked.

And another Dave Brubeck:

More:

Ozma

  • Battlescars ; Saw them live in 2002 when they opened for Weezer in Albany. They pretty much sucked, but Battlescars was/is pretty good.

A bunch of years ago, I discovered Ani DiFranco, and while I’m far from the feminist/whatever fanbase, I found myself listening to her “Living In Clip” live album alot, particularly to:

Hum

The Nixons

Soul Coughing

Garrison Starr

Veruca Salt

  • Volcano Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0HjzD_GiaQ Not exactly rare or obscure, but I haven’t heard it much since the late 90’s. Plus, I saw the CD in the rack while I was perusing it tonight, so I figured I’d put it in.

Coward

  • I Don’t Care - These guys are so obscure that I couldn’t find anything on them. They were popular in the late 90’s ('97 I think), and they actually played at Brownie’s in Herkimer that summer. Good stuff though, trust me… LOL

Vibrolush

Silverchair

Jeez… Thanks for making this thread… It’s only 12:30 and I have to be up for work at 6… LOL! I’ll post some more tomorrow when I get to work and look over the playlist there.

Another one by Everclear
“Santa Monica” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzIr1_PMvW8

more to come

Wow, lots of good stuff from both you guys. The only one I already had was Santa Monica which has always been one of my favorites.

When I get home, I’ll dig out some more…

I’ve got 800+ CD’s, chock full of good stuff…

My favorites are “Promo Only” CD’s, and compilations with B-sides & “alternate” versions… Not necessarily remixes, but just different versions of regular songs…

I really like Acoustic versions of mainstream songs, too, since they’re not played on the radio 900 times a day…
