Rear end gear options for the vette

going with a taller gear is only gonna make you spin more…i say get your traction problem fixed, then mess with the rear end. i know of a couple vettes hear ( in rochester) that are real fast on the highway, but cant hook for shit. remember drag racing begins a 0 mph.

everyone has their opinion but to be quite honest there is no best gear by any means. you need to figure what kind of power yoou are going to make take a close look at the graph. what are you going to spin the motor to. what size tire at the track(if you plan to race at the track). basically jeeves response with the link is what you should look at. i have 4.10s and love them but i run a 27in tire and rev to 7200 so i can get away with it at the strip.

Freek wants to be a highway star deep down

I’d say if you plan on running a 16 inch rim with a 28 inch slick go with the 3:73’s, the car will never hook with drag radials on the stock rim. If you spin the motor to 7k they will be even that much better so you could run a big cam and keep the motor in the power band.
