for a 37 or 42 inch LCD HDTV… id like to avoid any that will dip
would like something modern, ie black/glass/polished aluminum
im checkin around and theres hardly any reviews so just seeing if anyone has a suggestion.

i know youre looking modern, and probably want to steer clear of target, but the build quality relative to cost is actually pretty good. have you hit up CL? I have to imagine your dollar would go further there, esp if you’re looking for durability along with a modern-ish design
I bought a 3 black shelves from Ikea, the chunky ones that are about 3-4’ in length and ~2" thick. Took one shelf and cut it up to be vertical walls, while the other 2 shelves sat on top of and below. This created 2 little cubbies that the cable box and dvd player nest into. The whole thing is about 12" tall, add some legs under it to lift it up if you’d like…
I think I had maybe $40 into this thing, looks great, fits my tv perfectly. I’ll try to snap some pics tonight. Only downside (well I enjoy it so wasn’t bad for me…) is the few hours of building this thing, not sure if you’re looking for an alternative like this or not.

Cheaper and looks nice for my 42" LCD. Only thing I miss is more room on the sides for speakers but for a small black stand, its really nice. If you want something for < $100 it might be up your ally since its not really a permanent home setup type stand.
possible, but i’ll still need at least some shelving for receiver, speakers, PS3, etc , id like it lower on the wall cuz sometimes im CUDDLING ON THE COUCH and don’t wanna look UP. awwwwE !

I’m looking for a decent stand too for my new 32" LCD.
Its not too bad. Hasn’t come crashing down either.
I have the 42" LCD TV on top and some room to put the remotes and stuff and then on the middle part I have my DirecTV box and XBox 360 and on the bottom I have some movies and other random crap.
I was pretty impressed with it so far for a cheaper stand that I will probably throw out in a few months when I move.

I bought 2 dorm size 15 dollar stands from target and put them side by side for my 65" TV… Works great!
I have this one in my attic. $98, I have my 50’ on it.made pretty good.

That’s the one I got for my 42" LCD…very sturdy and looks pretty nice…I eventually might wall mount mine.
When I used to work at Fortuna, he had a shitload of TV stands.
He was basically giving them away, they were too heavy to sell on the internet and ship, so he would put together a truckload of them and sell to Ollies and places like that.
Might want to check there…
