Recommend me a welder

Is it 220? cuz welding d.o.m. with 120 is difficult and requires pre heating the metal with a torch.
So my answer to that question is no

you bastard! :lol

crank it up and make sure your joints are TIGHT. turn the wire speed down a cunt hair and it will do it. Dont expect to weld non stop with it like that… it will kick its ass duty cycle wise.

i’ve welded plenty of 1.75" .120 wall dom with 140 amps, it does it just fine.

shit, i’ve welded .250 wall dom with it too with a bevel :lol

Its 120V

Yeah as long as it penetrates fine, I can take my time. :shifty;)
Right now I run a thin wire 0.023 I think, maybe getting a thicker wire would help as well…

Thanks guys, sorry to thread jack

Use .030…

You can weld DOM with 120V I do it all day!
Krazy…you know this!

the only thing I notice thats different 120 to 220 with the same amperage rated machines… is 220 seems like its smoother. both will get the heat into the material, but its just different, cant really explaine.

it has all to do with cleanlyness, prep work, proper machine settings and technique. Machine has very little to do with it when the above is all in check.

and yea use .030 wire, it makes a big difference on heavier material. actually you will find your putting too much heat into the material, undercutting it, and cranking up the wire speed to compensate, which also makes more spatter and shit flying all over.

also replace your tips often. they are cheap and really make a difference welding.

Correct tool for the job…do u use a 3/8" ratchet to break lug nuts free?
No, you dont…unless your an idiot and a glutton for punishment. Do a good job right the first time…so use the 220 to get a solid 1/2" weld with penetration…non-stop I might add so your cage doesn’t look like a chicken shit on the bars. A 120 welder will only make a 1/4" pass the first time over , a 220 will make a 1/2" pass the first time over. Which do you think looks better on 1.75 bar? Fuck …Morgan would tell you were all idiots and that it needs to be TIG’d…OUT!
I’m going back to building race cars and hanging out at the track…this place sucks.

cool story. see ya later then

It can weld farther than a 1/4", idk what you are talking about, the duty cycle isnt that shitty

well I appreciate the argument, I specifically need a 120v for small jobs that I want to be able to do myself, like welding on these dzus back plates i bought. In the future I’ll step up to something bigger and better, but for now a 120 fits all my needs and will suit the work i’m throwing at it just fine.

I took a look at a SP-140T as recommended, found a deal for it online and went for it. Hopefully it comes in soon. Only 3 more weeks until I’m sent off to hell for a couple months.

that one will work just fine for what you need! have fun!

itll do just fine.

I havent died yet in the dozen or more rolls i’ve had in my shitty birdshit 120v welded cage :ahh

good

A buddy of mine just got the Hobart 140. he just needs to to small odds and ends stuff too and the 120v is portable so its a good choice for him.

I will grab some scrap and zap them with his machine and my miller 180 and post the results. Should be a cool little test.
