Marshall Law

Marshall Law is a character in the Tekken fighting game series. This character is based on Bruce Lee.

Storyline

A Chinese American who fights using Jeet Kune Do (and thus is Tekken’s “Bruce Lee clone”). Sometimes known as “The Fighting Chef”, he is a close friend of Paul Phoenix during Tekken 1 and 2. Marshall Law was originally thought to be the warrior who would defeat Heihachi Mishima and put an end to the evil bloodline, but when Wang Jinrei took him on in the first King of Iron Fist Tournament, it is revealed to Wang that even though Law is an extraordinary fighter, he is not the warrior to stop the Mishimas (that warrior turns out to be Jun Kazama, but instead of stopping them, she concieves a son with Kazuya and somewhat purifies the “devil family”). In Tekken 2, Law enters the tournament to exact his revenge on the Tae Kwon Do fighter Baek Doo San, who attacked Law’s pupils and destroyed his dojo. Paul and Law fall out somewhat after Paul convinces his son Forrest to enter Tekken 3, but they are friends once again by Tekken 5. Before Tekken 4, Law finds success as the master of a martial arts dojo and as the owner of a restaraunt chain called, “Marshall China.” However, a rival restaraunt chain drives him bankrupt, and he falls to drinking. When the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 is announced, he beats himself into shape to compete in the tournament to pick up his business. At the end of Tekken 4, after Law fails to win the tournament, he is completely broke and works as a dishwasher at a restaurant in Japan. Just before the events of Tekken 5, he gets a phone call from his wife in America, who informs him that Forrest was badly hurt in an accident on Paul Phoenix’s motorcycle. Law enters the fifth tournament to pay his son’s medical bills.
