Roborace Anyone?

Anyone else intrigued by this? AI cars racing each other without human input?

Roborace will be a unique platform for experimentation, not just from the perspective of self-driving technology (which will be its focus initially) but of motorsport technologies in general. There’s a reason we aren’t breaking speed records at the Indy 500 anymore. It’s not because technology can’t do it, rather the human body can’t.

Back in the day, CART drivers began “graying-out” due to the extreme G-forces sustained while cornering at over 230 mph; in fact, a race at Texas Motor Speedway was cancelled in 2001 as the drivers simply couldn’t manage the forces placed upon their body. With Roborace, this clearly won’t be a problem. Nor will the issue of drivers being killed due increased speeds and the inherent risk of violent crashes.

I’d rather see humans race slower cars with more skill than automated cars drive super fast with no skill.

Sounds extremely boring

Why not just fire up Forza on my Xbone and watch it play the intro for a few hours?

First person to hack one of these could make it fun
