How do I know what I have, a zenki or kouki, are the ECUs interchangable.
I know WC code=zenki, NA=kouki.
I thought mine said NA on top. But it may have been WC. My sticker’s gone. I got a headache.
Found out you can tell by the harness. White means kouki. Blue means zenki.
Mods pls lock.
what’s with the obsession with locking?
maybe there are other distinguishing markers between the two that should be checked out as well?
what if one friday afternoon when his s14 was built nissan ran out of blue connectors building a zenki and decided to use a white connector?

valve cover fastners are nuts on zenki and bolts on kouki as well
Kouki is also suppose to have the “click-click” oil cap and zenki not,
but guess what, my zenki came with a “click-click”
the valve cover fasteners (like sasha described) are the best indicators.
hey dude…the WC ecu has the longer plug, same size as the s13 sr plug…the NA is a much shorter plug…bring the ECu to me and ill tell u within a second which it is…
or u can look at ure mafs…ure ure mafs is oval, its supposed to be an NA ecu…it the mafs is rectangle, its the early style WC 95-96 ecu…

I got a zenki because sasha told me that I got one. Yay.
I found out that both engines are identical despite the minor differences, which I was not interested in.
I’m interested in getting an aftermarket ECU for the car and my view is that if I get a kouki ECU+wiring harness I can use it on the zenki engine. Now that I think I got a zenki harness+ECU I’m going to get a zenki one.
when going aftermarket, always use te 95-96 harness , and ecu…much easier to find supporting parts for…
yeah tell me about it. Ive got a Kouki engine and ECU. Try finding a spare ecu for that thing…not fun.
i can get kouki (NA) code ecu’s within about 8-12 business days…if u need one that u wanna send out for a tune or whatever call me anytime…
