SAAB Liquidation!

I’m glad someone appreciated that, it was the first thing that came to mind.

I appreciated it, but it made me sad as I am working out the details with the dealer on a 9-5. Hopefully they come back with the right numbers.

I want a Sport Combi!

Seriously. If someone paid me to drive one of these piles of shit, I’d walk away. Hate saabs.

SRSLY… $50k+ for a Saab?? That means in Ontario it would be over $70k with the price convesion, HST and all the BS fees added in… you can get some serious shit for that kind of money

It’ll be interesting to see how this turns out. I’ve heard that Saabs sold during GM’s ownership (up to early 2010) will still be warrantied by them, but cars sold after that may lose their warranty coverage. It would suck to have bought one recently when they’re practically giving them away now. I wonder if the aftermarket warranties are worth a damn? I’d be pretty scared of a new Saab with no warranty, it’s a huge gamble even at that price.

what about common failure items, especially electrical modules?

the only thing worse than paying dealer mark ups is having a 30k paperweight because the parts to fix it and people to diagnose it dont exist

I still can’t get over this. I always liked saabs but I guess I never noticed their MSRP’s

ehhh parts are already scarce for these things

Case in point: my dad is a manager at a major insurance company, and they are having major problems with getting airbags for these cars. There are two he is dealing with that are stuck in the shop because they can’t leave without airbags, but they can’t get them anywhere. So for two months, these cars have both been sitting…

These are cheap for a reason

I guess “Saab Parts” or whatever is a separate company, so they aren’t declaring bankruptcy. The problem is, Saab is broke so they haven’t been paying them, so they can’t even get the parts needed to finish cars on the assembly line. It’s a whole mess I wouldn’t want to be involved in.

that’s quite the conundrum, we deal with that often.

insurers cannot allow aftermarket airbags either. I bet Delphi does actually have them. Has he tried using Advantage Data System or another OEM source network?

No clue, I just mentioned to him on the phone the deals posted here and that’s what he told me. He works for one of the better insurance companies, so I’m reasonably confident they have tried every possible option.

I know they had the same problem when Daewoo went under, people with them couldn’t get parts and were insisting the insurance company total their cars as a result. It got pretty sticky.

Actually, on second thought, I do know they use ADS…

Well, the good news is if you really like the 9-5 you can buy a Buick Lacrosse.

no kidding but a vette, and some snow tires and grow a pair.

That is really cheap.

For the last 15 years or so, to me saabs have been all of the headaches of a “European” car with none of the benefits really. Except for the saabarus, I really liked those.

My friends mom bought a 9-3 I think? Brand new in 04 or 05. The headgasket blew In 20k miles, that’s pretty shitty…

better to buy an older used saab that this “surprise no warranty” crap

that’s because your friends mom is a woman
