So… you have thought about driving your car on the track, but came up with every lame excuse imaginable…
Well here is an opportunity to drive the Full course at the private country club a few hours south of Albany. If rumors on other sites are to be believed, this may be the last year they let clubs rent the place.
Join Mohawk Hudson Region SCCA
for the First SCCA event on the
Monticello Motor Club Full course!
PDX - Friday Sept 24th, 2010 $250 for students–Add $15 for non SCCA members.
A full day on the Full track with in car and classroom instruction.
What is a PDX? Short for “Performance Driving Experience”, PDX is a non-competitive, non-timed, instructional event. ( AKA HPDE, Drivers school or track day) Open to all SCCA members driving street-legal or lightly-prepared race cars, PDX aims to get drivers familiar with the basics of driving their vehicles on higher-speed courses, typically racetracks.
AND --If you are worried about your car, HPDE insurance should be available through Lockton Affinity (event is not listed on their site yet–but I will fix that)
Would love to hit this but 9/24 is in the middle of our outage season which is like 80-90 hr weeks at 7000 ft elevation and me forgetting to wipe my a$$… Let alone take a Friday off.
I did look at Patroon though and saw something on 8/30, is that for members only?
BTW I did register for the Patroon chapter forum but to become a member, I have to join BMW CCA first and then claim Patroon as the chapter? Is that how it works? Sorry for sooper noob question here.
DJ please PM me if it’s too off topic for this, thanks!
Not off topic. Patroon is running the same track config on Monday 8/30 as well.
Entry fee is $250 plus $48 for non BMWCCA members. SCCA on Friday 9/24 will be similar --most of the same people are putting on both events. SCCA $250 + $15 temp SCCA membership for non members.
SCCA event has some stricter rules on “race cars” participating–must be street legal OR fit into specific classes ( production based cars–no tube frames etc)
For Either event. Go to www.Motorsportreg.com Create an account ( it is free) Add Patroon BMWCCA and Mohawk Hudson SCCA to your clubs. Then search the event calendar–Find the event --register online and pay online with a credit card. Those of you with checks, can register online and mail in a check. OR I can email a paper application to anyone.
This track is close to home, challenging, 18 turns, nice long straight and should be visited this year in case they do go back to country club status.
As a reference-- SCDA is running there Monday the 26th of July. Entry fee $345, it sold out.
