I don’t care how it’s classed, the Forester is a wagon. Well, it drove like a truck with none of the space. My mother in law had one for the last 4 years. It sucked.

My Xterra’s been great. Moves really well for weighing 4500 pounds. You can only get them with a 260hp/285ft-lb VQ40 now. The stick shifts nicely for a truck. Which makes sense. The engine’s a stroked 350Z motor and the tranny is based off the same.

Gas mileage, well, it’s an SUV. Real world I see 15-18 in the winter no matter how I drive. As high as 21 or so on the highway in the summer. Not really any higher.

No problems with mine, although it’s got a whopping 9k now.

Overall, mine’s great. I’m very happy with my decision. It’s useful as hell. The entire back half of the truck is rubber, not carpet. Very very very nice to live with although you might not look twice at something like that when shopping. Gas mileage isn’t that great, but overall it’s a great useful fun to drive (for an SUV) SUV.

i really like the X-Terra, and i priced one out and it comes to just about exactly 25k which is perfect. only thing is the gas mileage…its not really THAT much better that the trail blazer, which kinda defeats the purpose of getting something new. my mom drives a LOT too, we got the thing a year ago in January and it has almost 19k on it. so the whole gas price thing is KILLING her. fortunately, myself, not so much. work and the fire hall are all within a mile of my house, so a half a tank lasts me a week and a half usually. now, when i get the 5.0 back, that will be a different story. it gets gallons to the mile, not miles to the gallon lol.
