Planning to buy a brand new cross-over SUV...

…[Edited]…tomorrow! LOL. (just assume it that way)

Look guys, I am really clueless about SUV stuff…so, please lecture me about this topic.

Gotta pick one from these models:

  1. Honda CR-V

  2. Toyota Rav-4

  3. Nissan Rouge

  5. VW Tiguan

  6. Hyundai Santa-Fe

  7. Subaru Forester

  8. Mitsubishi Outlander

Points for discussion:

  1. 2WD vs. 4WD
  2. Turbo vs. non-Turbo
  3. Reliability :roflpicard:
  4. Interior, exterior quality
  5. 0% financing
  6. Value Depreciation
  7. Best time to buy brand new car
  8. 4 vs. 6 cylinder
  9. etc.
    Discuss. Please. :grouphug:

2 years out? post again in 2 years… kthanx

/thread

I may become impatient and decide to buy it tomorrow…so…

Doesn’t hurt to discuss.

Thanx.

^thanks Beck. I read people talking about buying new car around end of January. Some said it’s the best time?

I wouldn’t even worry about it now. Programs, incentives are all going to change. Not to mention, interior’s and body styles, motors, reliability etc etc. For christ’s sake you have an 06-08 Rav pictured. The 09’s look much more agressive, and come with an all new motor (2.7 instead of 2.4).

However, if you were buying today, I’d go with a 2008 Rav4. Reliability, MPG, fit and finish, and resale top the charts among small SUV’s. Not to mention, 0% financing. However, the 0% financing is only for 36 months, so unless you can rock a $700/month payment and feel good about it…I’d go for 1.9% or 2.9% for 48/60 month terms.

No. Unless they have left over inventory and the incentive’s are good. As far as buying on a Saturday, as opposed to a Tuesday…there is no validity in that mentality. If you have the need, money, and ability to purchase a car…the dealer will stress urgency any time of the month. Believe me, I’ve been slinging Toyota’s for a while now.

Edited the thread. let’s just assume I want to buy it tomorrow. Easier this way.

Anything on Mazda cx-7? I am interested, but, unsure about the turbo crap. Some reviewers talking about turbo lag? Crappy MPG every time you b00st the car? lmao.

 that’s the kind of stuff I want to hear…thanks!

Any other XYZ model out there (same class)?

Nothing worth looking at. Escape, Commander/Patriot, Sportage, meh.

I sell mazda’s and will tell you that CX-7’s are over priced, shitty mpg and you are supposed to use premium. Its an suv wtf!!

I also sell Hyundai and can tell you that right now we have $3000 rebate AND 0%!!!
And you know damn well i will get you invoice! The Hyundai’s came along way and i really stand behind em… Look up there recent reviews, they are right along side with toyota/honda with alot smaller price tag. As far as awd, meh i dont think its necessary… now days with stability control, traction control, abs…Fwd is fine IMO…

also i agree with beck on almost everything in his comments about each model, except the ROGUE. Go drive one its the biggest pos out right now! They just drive very cheaply and tin can-ish. Now the Murano is very nice but at $40k it should be! And the cvt tranny in the rogue/sentra is garbage. When i sold Nissan’s in Atlanta we had so many issues with Nissan’s new cvt technology it was aggravating!

Forester.

What about the RDX ?

I love the Vw, the 2.0 does wonders, good on gas and with 4 motion handels great.

X2 If I had to pick on it would be the VW, def not the cheapest but it would be a nice pickup for sure

if i had to pick one, i’d pick the tiguan, but i think crossover SUV’s are kind of stupid. If you are getting one, do not buy a 2wd suv. get 4wd around here. no one will want it when you sell it or trade it in.

interesting comments and opinions, thanks guys.

Yeah, I read negative review about Nissan Rouge’s CVT tranny. My brother is also against buying Nissan because of their’s POS tranny.

Now that you guys talked about 4WD, I am unsure about getting 2WD. For a thousand more, it seems to be a better investment in a long run.

I liked the Rogue’s when I valeted them last year. Not to sure about specs but everyone I talked to liked them. Also, a co-worker has the Santa-Fe and he loves it too. IMO its really nice inside for a cheaper car. Again, no idea on specs of it tho.
