^ This guy could take 10 octopi at once
rob help dude what aux state do you go into for octopus attack
But it was biting the shark. Octopus has a "beak. VERY SHARP. That shit was eating it alive, they like their food kickin’
lol… no I was referring to what the octopus was thinking… if I grab this fucker from the side… his teeth are useless… therefore making the shark just like any other defenseless fish.
AUX-GTFO Then throw robel in the octopuses way he should be munching on that for a few hours.
Oh, I get it.
talking about badass octopus camouflage check this out
:word:
thats the vid I was thinking about…
a lot of people think that… it’s a really strange idea that think of intelligence that way… if they were smarter than we are, they’d kill us and become the dominant species… is it because that’s what we do? kill everything… to prove that we’re the best? so we’re the smartest, because what, we are the most capable at destroying the earth we live in. we’re dominant. YES!! we’re smarter than dolphins because we train them.
so why do they have to kill us to prove they’re smarter? it’s possible that they’re peaceful creatures who communicate at a higher, more sophisticated level that we can’t understand? maybe our language is primitive…
seriously, sometimes I do wonder if we really are the smartest… maybe humans are just the most destructive of all species.
Consider this they way we look at intelligence is the way we interact/manipulate various objects/communicate to others.
Now what if we considered intelligence in the way you can manipulate one’s self. For example some people have a hard time cordnating several things at once. (Ex. Surroundings, movement) Now look that the above camoflauge video of the octopus. It is concentrating on many things at once, it would be hard to do by pure reflex/chance on it’s own.
In that video that single octopus did the following:
Surveyed it’s surroundings
Examined the structure it’s next to
Attached it’s self to said object in a form that would match the object
Physically altering itself into the exact shape, texture, and proportion of said object
Is doing all this constantly while paying close attention to the surroundings, probably waiting for dinner to come by.
Noted something foreign, and new approaching (camera)
Noted this while doing everything above
Stayed completely motionless, showing no alarm and keeping it’s “cool”
Waited until the camera was near incase it was a predator, in which case it could use a suprise tactic basically so to speak
Once the strange object is near it then “relaxes” itself, losing all shape and texture it was emulating
Cordinated all of it’s limbs in a fluid motion to make a swift motion to attack said object quickly
Then in an instant it pushes off using all of it’s limbs and swims off qucikly in a very fluid motion
If you measured intelligence in terms of multitasking, and physical manipulation of one’s self I’d highly doubt you can find much anything better.
If you measure intelligence in terms of ability to create and destroy, I doubt any creature/thing currently known can come close, except nature itself.
nicely said.
octopi show us the beauty of evolution…
and sadly, a lot of the time, humans show us the ugly.
sometimes it’s really sad to see what we’ve done with our brains.
The other video showing the octopus camoflauge is insane. I thought it was fake at first
I didn’t mean the dominent species in the environment had to kill off any competition… I meant that Humans have a horrible history of killing thing… for sport, or through stupidity, and that for the octopus to survive, they would have to kill us. We are a button push away from destroying the world…
I know humans suck, and I know octopie are smarty pants… but I’ve never seen an Octopus build a computer, go into space, or grow their own food … different kinds of smart I guess. I’ve never seen a human eat a shark using his bare hands either… :gotme:
octipi do what they have to for survival.
Humans have “developed” away from survival. that’s why we contaminate and destroy everything.
That’s about the end of it, considering that we don’t know what deep sea animals do 80% of the time.
yeah. exactly… different kinds of smart… they all have their talents and special intelligences.
the fact is that people are weird… and they judge intelligence based on animals’ ability to preform human tasks and communicate the way people do. that’s fucked up. can you imagine a dolphin standing over us going " wow, they’re stupid, they can’t communicate in our language"
bahahaha.
Remmeber when the dolphins did take over? And it was all Lisa’s fault?
Oh wait, thats not real life…
But remember when the ants took over the space shuttle?
Crap.
remember when the rats were the only animals left after we destroyed ourselves in that huge nuclear war?
I mean…
Those were Simpsons references…
I’m a nerd. Glaaaaavin.
I would have to say that animals such as these are far mor evolved than humans, but not more intelligent.
it’s far too early for me to forma clear thought…I agree with what the other guy said
