Has anyone bought a used motor from the US? I’d like to know if there would be any issues with customs (besides the duties and brokerage fees) or other stuff like that.
buy one locally. There is many people in Alberta selling engines for cheap. Brokerage and shipping to cold lake will prob cost you $600 extra. Maby more depending on where the engine is from and how much your getting it for. What engine you looking to buy?
My guess would be he’s looking for a spare QR25.
VQ35 Right?
yep.
This site http://car-part.com/ lists both Black Gold and Allwest as having 3.5’s for a 2004 Altima.
Trevor.
He’ll need a VQ from an older Maxima and Bell housing.
The link was meant to be the important part of my post.
Black Gold and Honda Toy have 2002 Maxima VQ35’s.
Don’t be lazy and post back asking about the transmission bellhousing. Use the link and check for yourself if you are interested.
Yes, I’m aware of this site, thanks.
Called Allwest and the 3.5 is damaged, and the BG has too many km’s, if i’m gonna spend over 5k on this swap, I’d like to find a lower milage engine.
Also, I need a VQ that came out of a maxima 6spd, it is hard enough to find those cars, let alone wrecked ones. That is why I’m looking for an engine from the US. The easiest thing to do is just buy a complete kit from Travis, the engine with an 03 trans mated, wiring harness and the mount kit, but he is hard to get ahold of.
PS. Free reach-around to the first person who rear-ends and totals a 02/03 Maxima 6spd.

Is this a challenge?
Lets just say that I’m willing to give someone $100 to help find a good, low milage 02/03 Maxi 6spd. An extra $50 if you find a complete car with a key.
This might be wishful thinking though.

well my insurance is at the highest rating you can get in alberta, so i really have no where to go but down… so heh… I’ll keep my eyes out for one…
lawl. Trav just said he won’t sell the mounting kit seperatly, so much for getting that engine.
you will have no problems bringing in a motor form the states. AS long as the vin numbers dont say it’s form a stolen car, so carfax the vin numbers first.
I can even give you my brokers number, a&a custom contract brokers, they are very affordable and are really easy going.
seriously though, you will not have any issues and you will find one there way cheaper.
