Finally cleaned her up from the winter salt. Funny, I drive it all winter on 16" wheels (slammed) and just now get some 17’s that raised it up for summer.
Anyhow… Here she is now with 123,000 miles, wingless with some 17" Enkei RPF01 / BFG Drag Radials…
It survived the winter very well actually… although I really did put a lot of effort into keeping the engine bay clean and free from salt. It was a hell of a winter beater though!
Coming along… Nothing special, but I do love driving this car. Up next is possibly a front mount and I need to put on that clean, shaved valve cover in our showcase Any mods to this car will be visual/moderate. It’s just a daily driver.
Here’s how it looked last year with the wing and black RPF01’s:
I like it both ways, but I think the silver/silver is really sleek and clean.
Surprisingly well! A lot of the fast DSM’s are auto. We had seriously considered building this car for drag racing… but truth be told, I like to drive it too much to turn it into another “Ricer.” The Evo is flawless and never sees salt or even rain… and I have put over 16,000 on this car since July when I got it.
I want to keep this car just to drive. I have issues with keeping things clean, so I’d lose my mind with 2 cars like that! :banghead:
We actually have a “shift box” for this car which from what I’ve heard is REALLY easy to install and allows the trans to shift at 100% line pressure.
We’ll see. It’s stupid slow right now, but it is pretty.
I might get yelled at for doing this… but if you look at where the hood latch is, there is a patch of darker stuff…
Most DSM people know that these cars rust there all the time. This car had already started there a little, so before winter, I washed/waxed the engine bay, swapped in all stainless bolts (probably $50-75 in bolts on that thing!) and I covered the spots that already started to rust with… Anti-Seize.
Yeah.
It worked. the salt couldn’t penetrate it and so the cancerous rust didn’t spread.
Don’t ask where I got the idea from, I wanted something to cover and protect the rust… and I had it out to coat some of the bolts I was replacing. It’s silver and made of glycerin and aluminum… what harm could it do? NONE! :grouphug:
Not gonna lie but 2 weeks ago when me and Earl were up there it looked like a pile of shit lol. Cleans up really well though!! Definitely like it wingless and with the new wheels.
