Since when...

I think that all the time actually. I love the clothes people used to wear. I have a book that depicts the history of an industial refrigeration company I worked for and the mechanics used to wear suits to work. There is a picture of one of them on top of a compressor with a 3’ wrench with his sleeves rolled up and his tie tucked into his shirt covered in grease. His partner had a set of coveralls on over his shirt and tie. Both men had nice clean cut hair styles.

I don’t know really what it says about society. It all comes down to a total lack of pride these days IMO. Those men were probably looked up to by every family on their block. True blue, dyed in the wool, professional tradesmen. Now, I go into the grocery after I get out of work and people look at me like I’m a piece of trash because I’m wearing a uniform with some dirt and workboots. I suppose the world is just a different place.
