I’m selling my personal car to move on to something else. I’ll start out with the short version: if a part on a 93-99 Jetta is a common failure item, I’ve already replaced it.
I bought it with about 145k on it, and replaced:
Timing belt, rollers, tensioner, crank, cam, intermediate seals
Water pump, water pump housing and thermostat
All crankcase breather parts
Coolant flange and seal
Cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and OEM coil
Front wheel bearings
Replaced factory exhaust manifold and downpipe with a Stainless 4 into 1 header.
Complete stainless Bosal Brospeed exhaust
Valve cover gasket, and intake gasket
Smoked (GT, VR6, Trek, etc) tails, sidemarkers and front reflectors
Flik 17x7 wheels, completely soda blasted and painted, with Nexen N3000 tires
American Racing 14x6 wheels with Hankook snows (in damn good shape)
Master cylinder, and complete fluid flush
All oil changes done with synthetic oil and Mann filters
Front oxygen sensor
VW rubber mats
I do have a retail invoice showing all of the work that was done. Retail pricing on all of the work I’ve done to the car totals over $4800.
The bad: a bit of surface rust
Other detail: if you want the Buddy Christ, it will be another $500
