SOME PICS ADDED 1949 5Window Chevy Pickup, 4k

This is a 1949 5 window Chevy pickup sitting on a 1978 4WD pickup chassis.

Motor - 396 very fresh. It might have 0 miles on it I don’t know I have to check the paper work, it might be a crate motor. Either way it has been sitting in my garage for a few years untouched.

Chassis - This is a really clean no rust at all chassis completely painted black, Drivetrain and suspension all put together everything is pretty clean. The chassis though is flawless.

Body - It’s a 49 5 window that needs to restored. Some rust but I have replacements for the bottom back corners and the rest I haven’t really looked at it a long time. The bed is from the 78 but it is the same as the 49 except for the fenders. I have brand new front and rear fenders. (fiberglass)

This truck was a 16th birthday present as something to mess around with and learn stuff on as a project to slowly do. There is a lot. A LOT of work to be done but the most of the hard stuff is done. Like mounting the body to perfectly clean sandblasted chassis.

All that is left is to finish the body and get the sucker running.
This is to see if anyone is interested in buying it, I have no set price (yet) but I’m not looking for a ton. I’ll get pics when I get all the stuff that is around it away. PM me if your interested in parts or the whole project.

What I’ve remembered -
The rear fenders are 2 inches wider than stock. The front fenders and grill are off the truck but were bolted up and fitted. There is no front or rear bumper, You will need something for the 78.(I was going to put on off road bumpers  I think you could fit 35" tires without a lift.
The fuel tank for the 49 would go in the cab and the 78 would go in the chassis I think. I have a 78 one but it is junk.

The only thing stopping the truck from running is fuel and battery. The cab has no glass and but the doors do and they are VERY clean.
The bed does not have a bed. It is supposed to be that sick wood paneling. The bed is from the 78 but it is almost identical to the 49 except for the fender mounting holes and the flat top instead of angled.

It would make a sick off road rig, That was my goal

Yo Colin I want this 396 for my buddy’s 71’ Camaro. Let me know if you are willing to seperate at work. Thanks

Mike

Some examples. Hot ass truck, my girl wants one to play with

I’ll have pics up soon, There is just a LOT of random shit on top of it and around it I have to move.

What do trucks like that go for these days?

anxious for pics

Stock barn finds in really nice shape go for ~1500-2K…

Barn finds made into running condition 3-4K

Old restos 5-8K

Full restos 10-30k

I added the price to at least get a ball park on it, This is negotiable due to things I might find out as I go. I’m sorry for the lack of pics my cousin is visiting from Ohio and It will take me 2 hours to get the ones I need.

Does anyone want to trade me a reliable sub 2k DD for this? No cash on top straight trade. That would be a 2000 off what I want for it.

what kind of car you looking for DD wise?

Some kind of reliable import, Manual is preferred but I can deal with an auto. I’m really open to anything.

Just going on memory, but I don’t think that a 396 crate engine exists. If it’s a BB, it’s probably a 454. 502’s and 572’s are also available in crate form, but I doubt it’s either of those. What’s the casting number of the block? Just trying to help you out since a 454 is worth more than a 396 IMO.

EDIT: I also wanted to mention that I have a parts truck for one of these. /shameless plug

It’s a def a 396. I have a receipt for it with engine dyno numbers and a rebuild. I wasn’t sure if it was a crate motor or not but I’ll take your word for them not making a 396 crate motor. I haven’t looked at the receipt in a very long time so I’m not 100% on what it says. When I get pics It will be in one of them.

PICS!

I have a 5spd 98 jetta I will soon want rid of.
