Some sweet sounds...

Took a drive to Speed of Sound to visit Farmer today.

Ended up with this…

It’s a nice little system to make my commute a little more enjoyable. Features include a Kicker 8" CVR Sub in custom S14 box, Focal K2 Poly Kevlar Components and Focal PolyGlass for the rear fill. A Quantum Cosmic 4-Channel and a Clarion head unit with built-in Sirius.

Not bad for a few hours on a Tuesday.

Nice man, I have been wanting to build some sort of descrete but easily removed sub box for my car with a 10".

The job looks good.

That was the thought behind this system. I wanted everything to be “factory” looking and discrete. All the speakers fit behind the factory panels (even the big Focal K2 Tweeters) and I still have a trunk for golf clubs, tools, hostages, whatever.

The box is also suprisingly light for it’s construction…and fits perfectly on that little top ledge in the S14 trunk.

Is it finished? Or still in progress?

It’s finished now - but those were just progress pictures.

Do I spot some rims in those pictures Dan?

So who cares what it looks like…

The real question, is how does it sound?

I’m a real fan of 8 inch subs.

Lookin’ good Dan.

Well - the pictures were just to show the cleanliness of the install.

As for the sound…it sounds nice and clean. The 8" sub is perfectly suited for the type of music I listen too and is tight and punchy. The Focals are really crisp…but at almost $1,000 retail a pair for the K2’s would you expect anything less?

Overall, it’s a perfect system for what I need/want in a daily driven car. I can easily do 140 on the highway with both windows and sunroof open and still hear every element of the music. It won’t win any SPL competitions but it does deliver quality sound all neatly packaged.

youre right there Happy about the sound quality, Thats why I’m looking to trade my 10" kicker for an 8" kicker in the near future, done with the massive base, ready for some nice clear sound quality.

solobaric?

yes in a fair size box, got it for $600 new still sounds like the day i purchased it. pics available

sorry for the hijack

Yeah man - over the last 10 years in my various cars I’ve gone from a single 15", to two 12’s, to two 10’s, to one 10 and now a single 8.

Oh no - am I getting old?

slowly but surely

I like it dan, nice and clean.

good work farms!

Nah, “old” is listening to 680 news on stock speakers with the bass knob turned all the way down.

Looks good Dan!

That is the day I turn the boost up to 30psi, do a long 4th gear pull on the highway and cruise into a bridge embuttment.

Hey - that’s funny… then I’d been on 680.

Except you would blow off the intercooler piping and be reduced to driving a gutless 2.0L into that embuttment at a top speed of 60km/h

Yes Yes you are, and so am I thats why I never listen to the thing no more, too much base hurts my head, its the age :frowning:

Nah - I have my charge pipes tested to well over 30psi. If I wanted to end it all, I could get it done quite quickly and efficiently in my car.
