The jobs are the ONLY good thing, but its debatable to whether that makes it worthwhile or not. The issue being… we are more than likely going to be spending many times more money at the casino than will be pumped back into the economy through salaries. The “rebate” on the earnings of the casino is next to nothing… so when you do the math, they are still draining the local economy of local funds.

Casinos do NOT spawn other businesses, period. Go to NF, NY as I suggested… that casino has had time to mature, and its a ghetto surrounding it. Look at atlantic city, or any other failed city that looked to Casinos as their saving grace. They are still dumps, and worse off than ever.

A casino is specifically designed to make it next to impossible for any nearby businesses to survive in a city like Buffalo or NF, NY. Its a 24 hour operation with no windows and no clocks. It contains restaurants, hotels, entertainment, gambling, parking and shopping. They create an atmosphere where one never has to leave the casino for anything, even the parking ramps are designed so one never has to see anything other than the casino.

I feel bad for this mans family and friends, but for him, I have no remorse.
