God for the nysp i only had to run a 1 1/2 miles 30 sit ups in 1 min and 28 push ups no time. Did my run in 8:45, sit ups in 45 seconds, and 28 pushups are just cake. Then after a year of background got hired went to the crazzy academy and hated the pay after that. LOL
I’m only 150lbs.
Isn’t it a gigantic maze underground that is pitch black? You have no lights or anything, and have to make it out? Maybe the guy I was talking with exaggerated for effect, but he claimed people were wandering around in there for a very long time
Totally exaggerated. The test is pretty much the exact same for every FD because its certified by the same fire organization. Its a pitch-black horseshoe shaped tunnel that its 64 feet long. You have to crawl through. It used to simulate having to crawl around in a smoke filled room where you have to maneuver around things by feeling with your hand.
My brother just passed this. It would have been funny if he didn’t pass as he has been training the instructors and even the chief in all of the changes for hazmat and homeland security. He worked for county government above these guys, then decided this is what he wanted to do for a living. He aced the exam (again if he didn’t he should have been shot) then passed the tests in Syracuse to join up. They took some of the teaching and service that he has conducted to help move him along and take time off of how long it takes for him to be promoted to Lieutenant. Kinda cool to start up as a “rookie” and before you are even fully welcomed into your house, become their boss.
Oh man, like over 50% of those event names imply sexual innuendo.
You could replace those descriptions and make this an extension to the dirty sanchez, etc. list.
I’m a forcible entry champ myself. Congrats.
Personally I like to perform the events in a different order. First she starts with a search and a heavy equipment carry, then I preform a Ladder Raise and extension, followed by a forcible entry, and a Ceiling Breach.
I know a girl who is a firefighter and went to national training is only 5’ and 90lbs.
Damn jeff , congrats buddy. I doubt id even make it through that lol
But sometimes she’s late on her heavy equipment carry though and I’m stuck executing a hose drag on the floor until I’m fully ready to go, or she steps in midway with a Rescue…
HAHAHAHAHA
its these people that get shit pay but save peoples lives on a daily basis. its not all about the pay for them! but way to make it that way!
congrates and good luck in the future!
