Security is a big issue these days regardless of your platform/os choice. I am a OS X fanboy and I know it is still is open to attacks when not secured right.

Would it surprise you that I didn’t buy a mac, I built a hackintosh (I did pay for OS X) when I was upgraded the mini nor Imac fit my needs now both do, they freaking refreshed a few months after I built my hackintosh.
Next purchase will be a MBP though.

LZ is awesome. I couldn’t agree with his statements here any more than I currently do.
Also, it should be noted that most of the Mac exploits I have seen are browser hacks and backdoored torrents. I haven’t seen many OS/Kernel level stuff.
Viruses can always be an issue for ANY OS. Mainly because stupid users will install anything that promises to do awesome shit.

Ya I agree. I dont qualify a virus that takes user interaction or stuffing a torrent or image file with a trojan “hacking”. I just am looking forward to seeing the influx of people flooding the Genius Bar as Mac’s become more popular and people refuse to see that they are just like any other computer.
After being in there to get my phone replaced and watching two people come in complaining saying their monitor was broken cuz they didnt have any icons, I am so glad I don’t do help desk.
after reading this thread I’ve decided to sell my macbook and iphone. you can never be too safe and now that there are 3 viruses out which you basically have to install yourself I just don’t feel safe anymore.
the safest computer is the one that is shutdown and locked in a vault which is protected from fire/flood/etc… That is the only way your precious computer will ever be safe. What good will that do you though?

Those traffic systems run off PCs lucky for us…If they ran of off Macs they would be getting hacked like WOAH

They hacked my Mac so bad last night its running Windows now.
They did the exact opposite to me. They do that so much they even called it a hackintosh.
