First off, I hardly ever enter car shows, I hate sitting around all day. Back in 04 I entered Southgate show cuz my brother in law always enters his 59 Vette, so i figured I’d hang out with him. So I cleaned it up & entered. I couldnt believe it but I took “Best Buick In Show” Got a nice clock trophy. Not bad. So I decided to enter it again this year (havent entered since 04) got the car looking as good as an old 86 Buick with black paint can, & I took 1st place in the Modified 1980 to present! There were a ton of cars in my class & was really surprised to hear they picked my GN. I guess it was worth spending about 4 hours on it Saturday.
yep, that was me! thanks man. yeah that was my friend’s 04 mach 1 next to me and we were in the tent in the corner. my class was tough as hyboost said. there were a ton of clean cars entered into that class. i’m glad atleast someone from here won!
My dad is the one who sponsers this car show every year, so im there every year I usually hang out around the PBA tent and sell water and stuff kinda boring. But this year their was alot of cars I was suprised.
I was in the Pro-Street class and didn’t win. There were a ton of cars there, the show didn’t end till late. I think I will preregister next time, cause I wasn’t next to any cars in my class, and I wasn’t eligible for prizes.
Thanks all, but to be honest, I think the judges are pro GM. I saw a lot of really nice cars there, (your Mustang for example) nicer than mine imo. My brother in law also won with his 59 vette. Nice car, red with white insert on the side.
On RodandPiston.com, a lot of people are saying that the promoter, “Moonan?” is a real jerk. I never met the man but thats what they say. Also said was the only way to win there is to know him. I stated that I don’t know him & was accused of lying by a couple guys who didnt win. I got pissed & said some things I shouldnt have about his car. (a Rusty Wallace stickered Taurus) Not too cool but I won’t take being called a cheat. He apologized for saying that so I let it go.
I have known of him for 20 years. I will never go to any of his events. Many people are up on his way of doing shows.
Cars will win an award at his shows and they won’t even show up for it. He picks and chooses which cars to hand out flyers for his shows. He will guarantee an award to someone in order for them to go to the show, regardless of if there is a better car in the class. Basically rigged shows.
I mean it’s only a $5 award, but it’s the morals behind it. Plus there are a ton of other shows that are better to go to. My .02
That should make him happy. Did he get his gauges all hooked up? I offered to come over & help him out when he called me, but he thought he had it all figured out.
I talked to a few people about my cars disappointing E.T. Most think I have too much stall & I’m “pushing through” the usable torque band. I’m going to pull my engine this winter to freshen it up & change a couple things, including my cam & forged pistons so I can safely add a little more boost. There are a couple tried & true 10 second combos that several turbobuick members recommended to me. I have most of the parts, less the bigger intercooler & data logger so I can properly tune it. “How fast do you want to go” runs is hand in hand with “how much money do you have to spend”
