how would you refine in space? how the fuck do you light a match in a vacuum
My guess would be a refinery ship that can use water ice from the asteroid to fuel the refinery as well as itself. Shuttles from the ship to aseroid. Or better yet but way out there, would be to encapsulate the entire asteroid and work within the capsule. Many many options out there. Id like to see this happen in my lifetime.

Actually the only type of mining discussed was interplanetary at best.
