Ok, so I searched forums seen several sites blah blah, and they tell me
what I need to do to re-route the heater hose on the SR block to hook
up to the ports on the firewall.
I also gather the SR hoses are slightly larger then the KA hoses/ports.
One of my hose is also ripped/cracked (the one that sort of makes a U-
shape when you flip it over).
Varun said he has part # and shit but I told him I’d find it myself. Well
I’m an idiot because I don’t know what to get really.
So yea, someone who’s done this wanna tell me what hoses I need
specifically? Length, shape, I.D./O.D. and/or part # from Canadian Tire?
I saw the parts on HeavyThrottle’s site but can’t tell what dimensions they are.
Try Napa… I’d call first and run the #s past them just incase their not in stock but they may be able to match it in the system to another item which is in stock ?
I usually phone before I go out looking so I dont waste my time.
on both our SR swaps we used hoses from the KA along with some ‘reducer’ pipe fittings found in the plumbing section at Home Depot. not that hard really… just take the two hose sizes with you and find a piece that’ll join them.
ah-ha. is the engine in car? if not its easiest to remove a metal bracket on the rear of the valve head that holds the hoses in JDM locations.
Once bracket is removed, it easy enough to use the bulk heater hose (from princess/napa/CT) and copper elbows $.99, to avoid kinks, and re-route the lines
how much hose? I bought a 10’ length from CT, @$6? it was wraped into a circle but was straight bulk hose, and then used a couple 90 degree copper elbows and hose clamps,
no but just take a 1" sample of the hoses you need, use the sample to find the correct size and be assured that the copper elbows work.
I personnally would reccommed adding a rad flush fitting in there, it’ll help when it comes time to bleed the system. this fitting looks like a T with the top centre having a screw cap that can be connect to a garden hose.
I used all the heater core lines from my KA… there is 1 that is bent all funny “hard to explain” but with a tiny modification she fits on perfect
Lenghts arent to much of a issue… I’d say 10’’ max and 4-6’’ for the other ? One is pretty much just a 90 coming outta the fire wall and the other is routed behind the motor somewhat…
The heater hose sizes needed are 3/4 and 5/8.
Those “grey” reducers from home depot aren’t meant for the temps the coolant will reach and they will melt… trust me
And as for the rad flush fitting… if you need it for a rad flush sure its a good idea… but for bleeding the air out of the system there is already a bleeder screw on the coolant inlet on the block . (10 mm bolt)
