IMO preseason records are meaningless. the majority of the preseason games are played by 2nd and 3rd team players looking for a spot on the team.
im not trying to jump to such early negative conclusions about our season but the offense was non-existant. they just look very flat and out of sync. the defense on the other hand is looking stellar, im expecting it to be the best in the league this year!
they say defense wins championships but then again the best defense is a ball control offense.i think if we can assemble some type of running game this year we can be just as good if not better than last year.
my main question is:
will our defense be able to keep enough points off the board and create enough turnovers to put us in a position to win games without putting up huge offensive numbers? kinda like last year. i guess im asking can we do the same thing we did last year.
im a diehard steeler fan and never doubted them but you all know you thought the same thing as i did when i steelers scored on 5 consecutive possession, where did that come from.
hopefully it wasnt a fluke and the steelers are for real again this year.
I kept hearing stuff like “oh the titans suck, that’s why they’ll win.” The steelers just outplayed, outmanned and just plain destroyed the Titans on both sides of the ball. On the frist drive I was a bit scared but then Ben just started throwing lasers to the receivers and “Fast” Willie Parker surprised the hell out out of me. Next week we got the Texans…IMO, another win. But that may be gloating…
fucking domination. i witnessed it in person and the crowd was pretty fired up. everyone loves Willie and they should he played awesome. great game, hopefully we can keep it up! :steelers: :steelers:
so are we now going to have a RB controversy here in pittsburgh?
my opinion:
there were situations where we could have used duce or jerome but for the most part i believe willie gave our offense something we’ve needed for a long time here.
no controversy, Willie is the man. Cowher said he sees no reason to change anything in the backfield. Unless Willie sucks ass next week he is our back for the season.
jerome is good for the younger guys because he has been around so long. he helps develop younger players and hes also a good team leader. i dont mind him being on the team.
staley though, he has the potential to still make plays but he is as fragile as an egg. i really dont see us needing him for anything. if parker and haynes keep producing then i dont see us keeping him around. i think he would get us some talent if we traded him.
Lets hope he can do it all year. He is a young guy looking to make his mark in the NFL. He is gonna try and make impressions every time he touches the ball. Now if he gets hurt doing this, can bettis and haynes get the job done?
I think so, especially if the passing game is on.
