Well, yea that is my reasoning. We were comparing the STi to a GTO.

If you want reasoning on a case by case basis, everyone who gets better mileage than an STi can post up all about their ride, and we’ll break it down. Look, the bottom line is that nobody buys an STi for gas mileage, unless they are retarded.

in specific reference to the GTO v STI comment, the GTO is a PIG. 4k+ lbs et al. However, as with LSx cars with T56s… the high gears is where its at. Most of the 6 spd 4th gen guys can regularly get into the mid-high 20s.

IOW: I don’t think its primarily about compression there.

Yea, if you bought an STi purely for fuel efficiency, you’re a moron. However, for those who bought an STi when gas was $2/gal, I’m sure they maybe reconsidering their priorities.

In any case, $0.02. I’ll stick with my 2800# 4cyl mustang, and stay out of this thread

Lol… I enjoy my >8 mpg… maybe 10 highway if im lucky but thats with 850cc injectors haha

something is F’d in your setup…

when i drove my tib down To TN to deliver it to the new owner i got 26mpg with 900CC injecttors
