Super Bright Dome and Map lights

Hey guys just found this link via vboard, but I thought that I would post it here as I’m sure there is a few of you guys out there who might take interest in trying/doing this I know I probably will be when I get my car out of storage in the Spring.

Enjoy. :E

I read all 4 pages and still have a question, maybe you caught it and can help me out?

The 560ohm resistor is only for testing with the 9V battery?
the 37ohm resistor is only for installing to the 12V source?

Doesn’t sound right. Did I miss something?

Hmm, that seems like a pretty good winter project. The dome & map lights in my car are the usual dim OEM crap.

I like little time-eating projects like this, I might just have to try it out :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and since you were wondering, use the 560 ohm resistor on the 12V circuit in your car. The 37 ohm is for testing with a 9V battery. He must have mixed up his words on that post.

sounds like someone is an electrician :o

That’s what I was wondering! Just didn’t seem right the way he wrote it up!! Where do you think one could easily obtain these LED’s??

I messaged the guy through his eBay account (down a bit on the Maxima.org thread), he offers free shipping to the US but no mention of Canada. There should be something cheap on eBay, you can find anything there!

Sounds like someone’s jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone tried places like radio shack?

I’d only go there if there was absolutely nowhere else to go, the prices are sky high. I’m sure there are electrical wholesalers that carry LED’s, or at least some other electronics shops that don’t charge an arm and a leg

What were some of the member on that board talking about when they mentioned a shift light?

Does someone have any info on that?

Oops! I was brain dead when I wrote that.

The 560 ohm resistor is used to test each individual LED with a 9V battery. Once the board is all assembled a 37 ohm resistor is used in line with the (-) wire on the 12V system in the car.

Just received my LEDs in the mail today and I’ll be doing this project within the next week or two 8)
