Suspension Bolt Question

Ok here’s the deal I could use some advice.

I just had to replace a lower control arm on the wife’s van.

The 4 bolts connecting the control arm to the frame rails were a bitch and a half to get off, grade 10.9 i think, 1 of them broke halfway during the removal, another 1 stripped the head. Torch saved the day at the end…

I got all the bolts out. And for a temporary replacement for the 2 busted gr10.9 bolts, I installed grade 8. I went to all the local stores but only could find grade 8 metric bolts, not 10.9.

Should I even bother getting OEM grade 10.9’s? What is the difference? I thought grade 8 was for standard bolts and their metric equivelant was 10.9 but I guess not…

THx

I had grade 8’s in my lowered civic for a few years after I lowered it. Probably put 15k on it with no problems. But you’ve probably got a few more lbs than I did.

Now I’m looking at the package and they are grade 8.8.

Probably going to go get a couple ordered from ford but until then, a week or so, I hope they hold up and I also hope the place that failed it’s inspection doesn’t give me shit about that monday…

you should be fine

OEM 10.9 bolts reinstalled, thanks everyone…
