K20s are not econamical yet. Give them another 10 years and they will be your next B series. Until then, stick with what makes sence. If your head is fubar, put a vtec head on there.
NA b18bs can be torquey little fuckers if you do em right tho.
BTW, that link I posted is about a production head that is cast to OEM quality, but comes semi ported out of the box. You can get them pre-machined for LSVtec applications. A bare head is supposed to be around $500 and a complete head around $900. IDK bout you, but a complete NEW head for $900 is a fucking steal.
A year ago we were approached by a company (DHP) that was manufacturing an all-aftermarket B series head. After purchasing a head, we found a long list of problems that basically made the head of no use, as either a bolt-on replacement, or as a core piece for modification. Since reporting all of the head’s issues, we agreed to help them develop a head that’s a true inexpensive bolt-on, that’ll out perform any stock Honda head, and offer business’s like our own a core piece that’s a better candidate for modification.
…
Exact pricing on the heads has yet to be determined, but the bare head should be available for less than $500.00, and the complete head for less than $900.00…and that makes these the deal of the century. Individual head components such as rockers and LMA’s will be available too. In addition to selling the heads, we will also be offering inexpensive Roller-Wave piston and rod kits for those looking to assemble killer LS/VTEC engines.
it is a steal…i am not talkin fully built just upgrade some stuff so that when i wanna boost it i can…prolly go with stock compression pistons, and upgrade to like stage 2 valvetrain…but that is all depending on what happens…we will find out tomrrow
Not everyone gets a K20 swap spoon fed to them. For most of us a K20 swap is upwards of 5K. Spend 5K on a lsvtec and it’ll walk all over the stock K20 that coulda been there.
