lol it turns out that for less than $400 I can build a box that kicks the shit out of my old athlon xp box.

-Athlon 64 X2 6000+ @ 3.0ghz (until I OC it)
-2x2gb ddr2 800
-gigabyte board
-250gb wd sata3.0 hdd 16mb cache
-Reuse my burner
-Couple quiet fans, copper base/heat pipe/aluminum fin cooler
-Some sort of video card. DX10.1. Just enough to avoid on-board and keep graphics calcs out of the proc
-Fortron PSU
-Some cheap mid-tower case. Rosewill or something. Met my stringent requirements of having a 120mm exhaust :stuck_out_tongue:

Should be nice and stable and be a world ahead of my old box for photoshop and porn :tup:
