Azarenka has inspired me. Who plays? Where?
I have a racket, smoker’s lungs and zero experience…looking at getting into this weird sport.

I haven’t played in years but it was a lot if fun. I would be in to start again

I work with a Tennis guru/expert, so thanks to him I’ve been watching it a bit more. Serena in the Olympics was idiotically good.

I love playing tennis. Used to play all of the time

I would suggest taking a couple lessons from a pro to learn how to hold the raquet, where to stand and when, proper forehand/backhand, serving ect. Once you learn the basics it’s pretty straight forward

I hear you and I’m sure you’re 100% right… Just looking to F around to start though and make sure I like it THEN I’ll be looking for suggestions on where to join and who to learn from if it’s something that keeps my interest for more than two times.

The greatest opponent you will ever play against in tennis is a flat brick wall. It’s a hell of a work out, sadly you’ll never win

I work second shift but if you ever want to hit some balls around sometime in the morning if your free I could use the workout haha

Im in the same boat as you King. Drop me a pm man ive been thinking about wacking some balls on a tennis court for a while now. Just dont know where to do so or anyone else that plays.

Delaware Park has courts

Really!? I honestly never noticed. How do they work? What i mean is, is it like a golf course where you have to pre schedule to use it or just show up?

Not sure they are located towards what I would consider the back of the park alongside the 198. I can tell you on fridays the park tends to be a little more quiet especially later in the day around 5/6PM

I used to play D1 for UB, and still teach a little tennis on the side if anyone is interested. Feel free to PM me.

i think you can just show up anywhere thats not being used typically. I pass the courts on colvin near Ken west everyday seems like a good spot?

do you still play? are you a member anywhere?

I am no longer a member anywhere, there is no need to be (unless you plan to play indoors during winter), as mostly all outdoor courts are public (ie. free). No, personally I do not play anymore, retired…still teach to keep the kids involved/doing something positive…

I run a community program at Riverside Park on Tuesday evenings if you ever want to come and check it out…

i never really played until marrying my wife who was on a state champion tennis team in high school…i’ve been playing her for 6 years and still haven’t won a set…the closest i came was last weekend when i had her 5-3 and ended up losing 7-6. i have a ton more power than her, am much faster and i’m not ashamed to play cheap but she just has overwhelming skill. it is a lot of fun even though i constantly lose… it can get costly though too if, like me, you make a habit of throwing your racket.

A few of us from my work play at Delaware, just find an empty court, never scheduled anything.
