The "Formula One Chassis Unveiling" Thread 2007

Wow, the new Renault is gorgeous.

Beautiful car, I hate the paint scheme though. Looks a bit better from the front than the side, which is what I first saw…but I still can’t get into it.

It is a little busy i find it a little funny that puma probably spent big bucks to have their sticker ont hte car but its behind the drivers head.

It still looks out of place to me to see Bridgestone and Renault together. I’ll just have to get used to that throughout the season though :stuck_out_tongue:

The driver sits lower in the car. The Puma will be above his head. Massa is what, 4’11"?

^^ You sure? The pics above shows the helmet just below the intake. Not that is a big deal but if the driver was that low he would be staring at the steering wheel.

You didn’t get my short joke did you… :meh: :stuck_out_tongue:

Honda claims to have made great stride in aero packaging around the rear of the car, having massively increased its aero department since and introduced a new wind tunnel in the course of last season. The team also says that it has already adapted well to the Bridgestone tires, having last worked with the Japanese supplier in 2003.

The main design challenge has been achieving improved aerodynamic efficiency whilst accommodating tough new safety regulations specific to the car’s crash structures. I am pleased that we have been able to achieve this objective at the same time as reducing the overall weight of the car. The RA107 also boasts some innovative packaging solutions, particularly around the exhaust and radiators, which allow for much tighter bodywork within what is generally a nicely integrated
aerodynamic design package.

Engine development has been no less of a challenge because of the homologation regulation. I am pleased with what we have achieved in terms of usable torque and fuel efficiency whilst limiting the engine to 19,000 rpm.

Not the new Honda livery though.

Yeah, they still haven’t announced who is taking over from Lucky Strike.

Clearly i missed it but res assured i did chuckle after i read it again.

There are a few blurbs from Newey, the former McLaren designer that now works for Redbull. A lot of stuff on the process of designing the car, but other than the pictures, no details on what they did differently compared to the other teams.

I wish button would goto redbull and win the WDC and WCC with them :frowning:

The FW29 continues the design philosophy of the FW28 with a zero keel configuration," he said. "The other notable elements of the design include another step in the undercut of the sidepod leading edge (with top louvres for cooling), improved engine and exhaust packaging to address the reliability issues experienced in 2006 and a lower and narrower top deck for improved aerodynamic efficiency.

"The other prominent differences from the FW28 include large chimneys expressly for cooling at the season’s first three races and a narrower engine cover spine.”

"Really it’s been more a case of making sure we’ve got a car which we can run reliably, which cools correctly, which accounts for the vibration levels we expect, whose control systems integrate well with the software that Ferrari run. We’ve taken a little bit of a step back to make sure that we’ve got a solid car to start the season with. We just want to get the car running, and understand the tires. We’ll have a big step later in the season.”

Honda Racing F1 unveiled today at London’s Natural History Museum a radical change of identity, which will see its RA107 cars painted in an innovative “Earth” livery to support the parent company’s push for environmentalism. Honda’s new image also puts it in line with the FIA’s desire for a greener F1 in the near future.

Honda has gone off the deep end. Pathetic.

Speaking through their teeth
“What the fuck did we sign on for Jenson?”
“I dont know, just fake a smile and dont touch the children, we’ll sort it out later Rubens”

From right to left
“What the fuck?!”
“Uhhhh”
“Oh damnit, I should’ve gone to Williams”
“OHHH HONDA WORLD!”

Who wants to pool money together to get some vulgar/obscene name on the car?
