Verizon has no way to compete with the app store so their only option is to bash the iphone and hope people believe them. It would be a huge undertaking for Verizon, a phone company, to create their version of Apple’s app store.
Apple already had the hosting, delivery, software developers, programming language (XCode) and operating system experience. All they had to do was tweak the itunes store, toss together an SDK for the iphone built around XCode, and they were in business.

I wonder if the appstore thing will bring on a lawsuit against ATT/Apple. I mean, no other phone company can come close to competing with that (maybe blackberry or other high end smart phones). Not too sure on the laws of fair business practices but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them at the explaining end of that one.
^ I really doubt it. There is nothing stopping Verizon from entering into a contract with Microsoft for an “Zune Phone” or something like it. Microsoft could then use their delivery system for windows updates, and slap together a phone SDK that was based on Visual Studio.

Na think with Verizon phones. You buy any Verizon phone and you are forced to use their Get It Now for apps. no other options. I get what you are saying tho.

Personally, I think the phone model is ugly. It looks like the bottom buttons are tipped up so its not a flat phone.

I dont notice any fixes other than I haven’t had an app crash in a week. Contacts is still slow and hangs sometimes before you can scroll.
I did notice that when I go into a data center and get no service, I get service when I come out faster. Seems better at finding a signal.
I still want to try going from 3G to EDGE when on a call

My phone has been on for about 3 days. If I go into Contacts from my home screen. It freezes. I cant scroll or touch a letter for about 5-10 seconds.
Also, if I want to add a contact, it hangs for about 10 seconds before it lets me touch the + sign.
How many contacts do you have?
I have, only problem I’ve noticed so far is (with pwntool) that it wont remember my wifi key, so had to keep re-entering it anytime the phone would go into sleep mode
To fix it, had to SSH to the phone and set file permissions on a few files/folders to 777

I was playing with it (and myself) last night and the quicktime player in the I phone is buggy as heel. Works OK from the portrait mode for a few minutes then the audio gets laggy. In landscape the bars and buttons seem to stop working too.
Pretty cool tho. This has to be a huge traffic hit now.
shit, I wish I knew more about coding a website for iPhone efficiency. You could probably get some crazy traffic if you created a fully featured pron video site like that… make a buck or two
