So automatic route correction works fine once you find the option buried in the menu to turn it on. Not sure why they’d have that off by default but having it work is a huge plus.
Also, Apple/Amazon released the kindle reader for the iPhone for free today. I just tried it out and I’m surprised how well it works as a book reader.
Does it give you a headache? The only thing that worries me about stuff like that is the battery life of the iPhone and keeping the screen on to read a book makes it burn away faster than before.
I don’t have a kindle so I just downloaded a book demo to check it out. You can set the font size to anything you want, and the iphone screen is really crisp/clear, so I don’t think it would be a big deal reading on it. Battery life obviously could be an issue, but you could always put it in airplane mode before settling in for a read, or at least turn off wireless/3g.
The GPS is still a little hit/miss. Getting a lot of timeouts on 3g when asking it to calculate complicated routes. Seems to work much more consistently doing in town routing. Still haven’t tried downloading maps to the iphone.
then install a package called “Installous” and another called “miPatch Firmware 2.2” (cracked mobile installation file, so you can install unsigned apps)
so I fucked up and updated my iPhone to 2.2.1 with the new baseban. It’s the 3g anyone know a way to change it back so I can unlock it again with yellowsnow?
crap tryed it and my phone wont go past the recovery mode step. tryed 3 times… so yep i think im screwed for good. anyone wanna trade there unlocked iphone with the old baseband for my 3g with new baseband
I’ve read that the 2.2 firmware can be jailbroken now, but i dont wanna take some random websites word for it. Anyone know whether this is true and where I can find instructions on how to do it? thanks.
