EDIt: im freaking out a little bit here!
bump!
load itunes, see if it recognizes it. If it does, restore it and start from scratch.
Hold the power and home button and let it turn off and keep holding it till it turns back on and it should come back in restore mode while its connected to the PC with iTunes.
Thanks alot dude. i didnt know what to fucking do, jesus. i was scared i was going to have to buy a new phone. Is there any way you could give me a direct link to the jailbreak for iphone 3g, 2.2.1 firmware. and im running mac osx
Flash it to 2.2.1 with iTunes
Download and install: http://quickpwn2-2-1.googlecode.com/files/QuickPwn_2.2.5.dmg
Connect it to your computer and run the program and check the box for Cydia (Installer blows) and the box if you want to change your boot logos and then hit next and follow the directions to put your phone into DFU mode that acome on the screen.
iPhone OS 3.0 (Stolen from Gizmodo)
Peer-to-peer connectivity over Bluetooth for gaming and other info-swapping.
Paid apps will have the potential to be subscription fee-based, and can include optional paid content that can be bought from right inside the app.
Developers can now build apps that call out to Google Maps, and can also finally bring Apple-blessed turn-by-turn to the phone.
Devs can also connect with hardware accessories over in their apps now, such as a blood pressure monitor – or perhaps a keyboard? Connectivity works through the dock connector or over Bluetooth.
Long-promised push functionality will at last be included, but apps won’t run in the background.
Developers can add streaming video and audio to their apps, along with in-game voice use.
Cut, copy and paste. At last! You can shake the phone to undo and redo the action, and it works with both text and photos, allowing Mail to send multiple photos at a time.
MMS, along with forward and delete for multiple messages.
A2DP stereo Bluetooth.
Spotlight has been added to a new home screen page to the left of existing pages, allowing for universal search on the phone.
A new app called Voice Memos which lets you record notes and reminders.
A revised Stocks app, with news stories and a landscape view.
Landscape keyboard available in all major apps.
CalDAV support has been added to Calendar, along with subscriptions support in the .ics format.
Apple’s major apps have all been expanded with search functionality.
Also notes syncing, log into you tube account, Safari will also remember login credentials, parental controls extend to movies, TV shows, and App Store apps, WiFi auto-login for hotspots, shake to shuffle ipod.
A developer beta of OS 3.0 is available today, and the 3.0 update will be coming to consumers this summer as a free update to all iPhone 3G customers. It’ll also work for 1st gen iPhone owners, though they won’t receive A2DP or MMS due to hardware limitations. iPod touch owners will be able to update for $9.95, just like last time.
MMS and copy/paste. About f’ing time.
Push notification is going to be huge. IM being able to get IM’s while it’s not running, weather bug being able to play an alert sound when a weather warning is issued etc etc.
Honestly, I am blown away. They went above and beyond the changes they NEEDED to make and give more than that. They are finally allowing developers to fully interface with this device and will make it even more in demand. Not just software but on a hardware level now too.
I love more advanced features with bluetooth and accessories and how they opened up their stack to other items and developers to use for games and software. Only thing I am not clear on is A2DP a software upgrade or does this require a new hardware chip?
Also, love how multiple pictures can be mailed and MMS. Useful on cell phones but wasn’t a required feature but I am glad they added it. Also, copy and paste. Sending emails and such this was so clutch to have and finally is awesome to have a Apple supported feature.
On top of all that, turn by turn, more syncing ability, and more open API.
I said it from day one and will say it now. I plan on keeping this phone for a long time until 4G service is popular and can not wait till this firmware load. I am not suprised at all that there is no hit at a 3rd version of the iPhone. Honestly, I can see maybe some better internal hardware revisions but I just can not see Apple putting out a new iPhone this year. They seemed to make all the firmware changes nessary to make the 3G their number one item for this year too.
Only thing I am waiting on is if ATT is gonna come up with some teathering plan for the iPhone or Apple allowing more interfacing with the desktop (ie. camera as webcam, wireless interfacing with apps and syncing of games and apps, etc)
The phone now has tethering ability, but Apple says it will work with the carriers on specifics.
I am talking about a ability to do so legally with ATT
Lots of detail of exactly what’s in the new OS.
I agree with boxxa… Apple added a ton of cool stuff.
So, what? It’s a little closer to being as capable as a WinMo phone now?
:io:
WinMo doesn’t have the AppStore
i just hope that its still unlock and jailbreakable. The devs have been really slow to unlock 2.2.1 so far.
Nope.
Say goodbye to hopes to update if you are unlocked. It will be an all new baseband version and pretty much put the devs back to nothing.
so what your saying is that 2.2.1 is as far as i will be able to update my 2g since its unlocked with tmobile, unless they find a way to get it?
Yes.
The method that was used for 2.2.1 where they stripped out the new baseband and kept the old one might be able to work in the future but I don’t think you should expect that option for 3.0.
Look. The .30 minor update that came with 2.2.1 was enough to break the dev teams methods to still not have a solution yet.
well theres always the sim unlock method… but its not as good as the soft unlock.
