The next trillion dollar bailout

Let’s think about job numbers for a second here. Let’s say it’ll create jobs with an average of $40,000. Decent job, not great, not shitty. Now we don’t just want this job to last a year, so let’s say 5 years per job. The 2.4B is good for 12,000 jobs without payroll taxes and other overhead taken into consideration. Let’s shave 25% off the top for that; now you have 9,000 jobs. And now you understand why the bill needs to be MASSIVE

Thanks.

The government should just send everyone $50k each year. Then we’d all have “jobs” and wouldn’t have to worry about this pesky economy thing.

I was watching MSNBC the other morning and some libertarian dude was so unhinged he suggested instead of spending money on programs they should just use the trillions and pay off 90% of the mortgages in America

Has anyone started an NYSPEED poll yet asking how much you are willing to be taxed? It would be interesting to see how many people would be willing to pay 70%, 80% or even 90%. I know I sound like a broken record but, I just wonder how all of this is going to be paid for.

Shut the fuck up. The highest tax rate is fucking 35%…The biggest increase talked about is to 38%

Short term. Long term those 9000 jobs mean 9000 people buying more shit that gets other people working, and thus we see exponential growth instead of exponential decay.

Oh. So that’s how this thing is supposed to work. Government spending = starter fluid.

I are an economist! Lulz!

Yeah not to mention their 40,000 job is going to be taxed, so the fed is going to get money back immediately

I want to pay 105%. I want to pay every dollar I make and then borrow money to pay more taxes.

Getting back money they just gave out doesn’t mean anything (beat you to it blue eyes!) but once the exponential growth thing starts kicking in then yeah payback works quite nicely.

I’d rather pay $800 billion now to get people working than lose a couple trillion from the increased unemployment.

Yes, I made the couple trillion number up. That seems to be the way this thread works.

Joe and Joe. I didn’t say anyone claimed it would be that high, it was just a question. People like Barbara Boxer have already said this is just the begining of the spending.

From my post #249 the only things I see helping at all are…
$200 million for plug-in car stations
$2.4 billion for “carbon capture demonstration projects”
$600 million to buy new cars for government workers
$462 million for equipment, construction, and renovation of facilities at the Center for Disease Control.

At least these thing have the potential to actually add value to our economy.

FUCKING IMPROVE THE INFRASTRUCTURE!!!

WHAT DO YOU THINK $150 BILLION OF THIS BILL IS GOING TO?!

Handguns yes, everything else, maybe. But to be honest, this would be such an undertaking that I don’t think it would be worth it. I also don’t think it will pass.

and again infrastructure projects is def what we need along with many other things.

I dunno I didnt get all the details of the bill. to that though. creates TONS of good paying jobs.

You know Obama has been saying for a while that money needs to be spent on fixing our decaying bridges, roads, schools and electric grid.

:highfive: Agreement! :grouphug:

Shh. It’s going to be traumatizing for him when Jeg starts to realize who he is and comes out of the democrat closet. Let him do it at his own pace.

its true. When you’re paying for infrastructure, the vast majority of the money actually GOES to what you are paying for, and to the workers.

oh dont worry, I’m not crossing the line to the dark side of the force. lol. Its just the first thing that he is doing that isnt a waste of time, effort, resources, and taxpayer money.

lol it’s also the first thing he’s doing. 1/1 is a pretty good start! But alas, he’s a politician. He’ll do something stupid sooner than later I’m sure.
