Thank God, change is finally here.

I feel relieved that Bush is out. I don’t think he was a bad president, but he’s past his shelf life.

It’s a shame that Obama and the Chief Justice managed to mangle the oath. :hang:

His speech was good though. I like how he drew fairly heavily on our founding, and how he spoke to our world relations so heavily. I was also happy to hear him remind us that our mixed backgrounds is what makes us strong.

Your thoughts on the inauguration and what he talked about?

Fair warning: If you turn this into the typical off topic shit fest I will ban you. I’m sick of this place being a haven for people too lazy to write properly or think a little.

As a mother to 3 young boys I am glad I was able to share this momentous occasion with them.

Unfortunately I had to do so with my husband (justa4door) trigger happy with the pause,FF, and REW buttons on the remote! I don’t think I will ever be allowed to delete the Inauguration from the DVR.

^Have you given any thought to how Obama might change things for them? There’s a chance I’ll be having a kid during his administration, so I’m happy to hear the emphasis he puts on education and the sciences. He brought that up during his speech IIRC.

This is the first time I’ve watched the Inauguration because I was very interested in hearing his speech. You’re right though, it’s a shame they stumbled through the oath.

Idunno, his speeches just sound like the same crap over and over again. I think he just recycles the speeches and changes the wording around.

Is it online yet?
I only caught a few minutes of it.

theyre only human, shit happens.
very well written and spoken speech.
i cant wait to see what happens next.

Like what? Any part(s) in particular that just sound like the same old rhetoric to you?

Heh. Probably.

I appreciated it. I thought that he hit on all of the keys that are important in our current world climate and did well at shaping where he is taking us. I hope that he really does lead us down a different path with regard to our stance in the eyes of the rest of the world. As to govt. change that he touched on, I have a hard time believing that it will happen. Same thing here in Erie County. Chris Collins promised change, and he has worked very hard to try and bring about change, but faces objections and challenges from every other facet of government.

Overall I really liked it and I wish him all the best luck.

I am excited. Good speech and a good day for America. I flipped to BBC coverage and it is cool to see people around the world digging our election.

Hope he fight hard and makes things better. This part of the county could sure use it.

I have given a lot of thought about the changes he can bring for my kids. As a parent I HOPE he does great things for the education system. He is a brilliant man and I have faith in him. Change is what we need, and if anyone can do it, he can!

im excited my generation was around for this occasion…
fucking beyonce

His inaugural address reflected the themes that he has always spoken of, those of hope, of freedom, of unity, and opprotunity.

So if someone makes a thread questioning black jesus, it gets closed, but as long as you’re on his nuts all is good.

Just want to make sure I’m clear on where the mods stand on this one.

As for the speech, pretty much what I expected. The guy is a great speaker, now lets see how he puts words into action and more importantly how he pays for it.

Ya.

I also find it funny how hes using Lincoln’s Bible and Kennedy desk…sounds like good karma…

He is better than McCain and sure can speak a lot better than Bush but really. What is anyone expecting from this? That suddenly the black savior is going to take all the problems out of the country? More people than ever are going to expect handouts.

Obama didn’t fuck up the oath the Chief Justice did. He went sans notes and screwed up the first pause and the 2nd sentence

Too bad he can’t use Kennedy’s car.

He can feel free to discuss it in here in an intelligent manner which I am sure you would support more than a thread that is full of the same old BS.

That is where I stand I would assume that I speak for all of us.

Back to our irregularly scheduled intellectual conversation.

Anyone else watching the inauguration and waiting for a 50 cal round to go off? Lol.
